I would treat them as politely as possible at all times, unless they are too much out of line and I lose my temper too quickly. (Honestly.)
I used to think maybe it would be beneficial, since others are so commerce and production driven, everything having to mean something, if I used such a person in some way such as telling them something in hopes they'd pass it on if it suited them, but now I see they are only gonna use or twist things their own way or not at all, so what good is it to do more than just say hello.

Life is too short for two faced people. Stay away from them as much as possible and don't waste your time and energy on them. They will suck you in and then hang you out to dry. Don't try to reason with them or argue with them. If you have to work with them, document what they say in your notes or a follow up memo so you can show them what they said and save it for later if you should need it. Good luck!
