I have my ears pierced and I have 2 tattoos. Is the pain involved worse or less than the pain involved in getting a tattoo?

I don't want to drink alcohol but I would like some sugestions on anything else I could take or do to not make me feel it as much.
well, look at my question and youll see some answers. i thought weed, but apparently not. but i guess you have to take the pain. otherwise it wont make the tattoo that meaningful.

I have nine tattoos...and a couple are very big. Honestly taken aspirin or ibuprofen before will not make much difference. What I do during it is think of good things and think of how great my tat is gonna look and try to keep my mind occupied. Trying to take anything else can affect how much you bleed and you dont want to risk the tattoo bleeding out and having to redo it.

Don't take any kind of NSAID (Aleve, Advil and all the generic versions). If you insist on taking something, tylenol is your best bet. NSAIDs thin your blood and will make you bleed more as you're getting the tattoo, which can eventually lead to more scabbing, which WILL screw up your tattoo. Relaxing really helps. Mine took an hour, so I just laid back and put my arm under my head and that's where I stayed for the whole hour. The pain really was not that bad, honestly it kind of tickled most of the time. Sometimes it would hurt for a few seconds but then the guy would move on to a different area and I was fine again. One suggestion I might make is to take an Ipod or personal CD player (whatever you have) to listen to during the tattoo, it's really the noise of the tattoo machine that makes you think it hurts more. Take the needle out and get a transfer instead! :o)
Unless you're getting it on a bony part of your body it doesn't hurt much at all.

Ibuprofen, like Advil. Don't drink alcohol or take aspirin because those will thin your blood, and tattoo artists hate that.

Weel its definitely not a good idea to take alcohol as this will thin the blood.
I've got 4 tattoos & I've always taken 2 Neurofen Plus tablets about 20 mins before my tattoo appointment. They didn't take away the apin completely but they did help a little. Nothing you can take will make getting a tattoo pain free.
Umm.. You need a painkiller? Sorry but I think that's really NOT necessary! I just got my second tattoo 3 days ago- this one was on my inner-wrist over my veins and it was uncomfortable, a little painful- but you'll get used to it after they start it. Seriously- I don't think u need to take anything.

Take some pain killers. They proubley wouldn't let you get the tattoo if they knew you wear drinking before you came in. Lol
you can not take anything. drinkins alcohol or taking ibuprofen will thin your blood. do NOT take anything. just suck it up and get it done. I have 2, they are not that bad :)
Vicodin
There is a cream you can get from the drugstore that make needles painless , you might want to check that out and see if you could use it , it numbs the skin and a bit further , it might really help , it is called EMLA cream . Hope this helps , : )

Nothing. It hurts, but not that bad. You actually get used to the pain after a while. Don't be a pu*sy!
I read where Advil would be good. As long as you don't take something with aspirin or something illegal you should be OK. Aspirin will thin the blood and cause you to bleed more.

Two capsules of Advil 20 minutes beforehand. Always does the trick.
