what do you think of woman builders? do you see them as manly? or tom boy? or i dont know ? i really enjoyed the work experience in the building industry n i would love to take it up but yeah just wanna know what you all think?

Doesn't matter if you'll be seen manly or appear to be a Tom Boy. It's all in how you present yourself. And on top of that, I suggest to everyone, do whatever it is that makes you happy!
We've come a long way to get where we are today, but the sexist attitude of the men on job sites where construction is concerned is outdated. I am a ceramic tile setter, joined the union and even though I had more experience than a new guy hired. I kept being called as a token piece( thats where they need a minority person on the site) Being a woman makes me a minority. Or would get sent on jobs that were far away. Also as a gopher/clean up. At which I might mention pays $2.00-$4.00 an hour less than a tile setter. I have high grades on my certificate's scoring each of the skills used in the trade. The men believe that "its a mans job". Really its not rocket scientry and the lifting is nothing I cant do. In actuality a woman has a more artistic eye for such a trade and we also dont make and leave the mess to clean up that most men will. Not to mention the harassment on the job, the men know that if you let a man carry your tool bucket or carry any of the work materials for you that you will be sent off the job in a hurry, They continually would ask me "Carry your tools for you?" or ask to "pick up the sack of mortar and carry it for you?". Oh and at lunch time if that wasnt enough, they would make fun and harass any man that would sit down to eat lunch with you, "Oh wait until Jakes Ol Lady hears about who he ate lunch with today" . So its not exactly the most relaxed atmosphere to work in. That's why I left the union and just did side jobs on my own and carry a couple friends with me when I work some where. But no , not manly. Theres nothing wrong with being a tom boy. Tom Boys are just a little more independent than girlie girls. Girlie girls are dependent on men and leave themselves set up to not be able to function or get past a problem on their own.I say if you like the construction field, then you go girl, and dont let the bull stuff discourage you. I will suggest that you do attend the union meetings as much as possible, thats where they do their main bonding and all the who's who higher up in the trade will get to know you. and it does make a difference. They have a saying"Its not what you know , but who you know". You'll find anytime that someone knows that youre a construction worker female, you'll always have to prove your stuff. Me I am not cut out to have to prove 0 to anyone. and thats not the right stuff to be full of. lol Good luck , and hang in there make us proud. Mar 5, 2006 sugar, oatmeal, and dozens of other well-known flesh-builders, . The real question is: Do you want, really want to put on weight or do you "enjoy" being skinny? I would bet a lot of women and a few men. If you were to put on 20 Is it easy, no, but it's not as difficult as you think.
