Since the Akihabara incident. There happened to be increasing stabbing cases around Japan metropolitan area. So what do you think is the motive behind these people to do such thing?

  • The information was available for a short time after the incidents. I have told you this.

I am not interested in debating things I know to be true with people who don't want to know.

People whose minds are still able to learn have already read what I have said and it is up to them to look into it as they decide to.

It is too easy for me to dismiss the pablum of the likes of the frustrated multi-millionaire Dave, who is right because he says he is rich, and others who like to fall into line behind him are even less of a challenge.

Personally I think the planet would be a better place if the likes of the aforementioned decide to embark on a programme of drugs to rectify any perceived shortcomings in their character. - Which reminds me how pleased I am to be here where there aren't too many frustrated foreigners with multi-million dollar companies. There's only me, and I'm not at all frustrated.

But seriously, I furnished you with an article about the big con that prescribed what psychiatric drugs can do and are doing, and I strongly advise people to examine the history of clinical-psychology and understand why it is very unwise to take any drugs which affect the seat of our collective consciences.

Such crimes and others which may be considered more bizarre occur in other countries as well. If one is alert during the early news releases one can hear plainly that more often than not the perpetrator ""... had a history of mental illness and was taking prescribed ... etc..."". Unfortunately people feel that if it was prescribed then it must be good. This couldn't be any further from the truth.

    * Anyway kiddies, squabble amongst yourselves while I get on with more important things.

  • Right, but where in any reliable news source has it said that the people involved in the recent incidents were on psychiatric drugs?

Nowhere. Mael probably heard it from Tom Cruise. :p

I believe these incidents feed on eachother. Back in the days, stabbing someone just because one is.... unhappy with their life was not among the possible ways they would be able to choose from in order to make themselves heard/get revenge/end it all, etc. Now, someone watching the news or reading the papers sees all these horrific acts of often random violence, and once they see it, it is THERE in their consciousness. I am sure many people in the past have entertained the idea of just go out and off someone in their state of extreme anger and frustration, but in most cases, it was a fantasy. These days, as extreme as it is, it has become one of the choices they can choose from.

  • Relax guys! This is not a debating thread. I appreciated your theory mael. Some drugs are dangerous enough to make people losing consciousness and become insane. But I think they are too emotional think that the world own them something. People burst out when they reach their limit. The anger took over control of their mind and did something terrible. Should they be treated like a normal or sick person?

  • The school and workforce, and society in general in Japan is generally stressful to an extreme. I'm surprised there aren't MORE stabbings. People in Japan are doing a pretty good job keeping their last nerves in and not snapping.

Oh hey not to mention Japan is a society of extreme conformity. One small slip and you're on the outside.

  • Huh? I haven't heard anything about the people involved in the stabbing incidents being on drugs. Where are you getting this information from?

  • Mostly copycats I'd say. Things will probably calm down. Japan might want to take better care of its mentally ill, though.

I do want to know. But you gotta post a link or some sort of reference.

  • It's not very nice to direct a slew of insults at the general population of the board.

  • How about you try to back up your statements?

You asked me for a link (to back up what I said) and I provided you with a link.

What did you have in mind by way of backing up what I say?

Anyone know of a different board where the posters aren't too dense/stupid, trolls, or frustrated? Time for me to head off shortly. This sand pit you play in is a bit small for my tastes.

    Lucky you.

  • I think regardless of whether drugs are being over prescribed (which is completely plausible even without references simply because world-wide there's an increasing trend towards powerful pharmaceutical lobby groups and lifestyle drugs) we should look at the reason why they're needed in the first place. Drugs or not, there's a pre-existing condition being exascerbated to the point of someone murdering another person.

I think it's the classic inability of Japanese culture to deal with undesirable things like mental illness, personally. My Japanese isn't great but I was listening to a university radio station the other day and a bit came on about seishinbyou 'mental illness', and again I didn't catch all of it but the speaker was very clear about the first barriers being those created by family and friends who deny that someone close to them is ill and thusly deny that person the support they need to thwart mental illness when it sets in. Having someone to talk to is a huge piece of the puzzle that many of us open Westerners with our large social circles take for granted.

Both times I got over here I ended up breaking up with my gf whom I'd left behind in my home country (I suck at long distance relationships) and not having my friends around me was incredibly tough. I felt isolated and alone when I needed my buddies the most. Luckily I had made some new friends (as us Westerners are apt to do quickly, socially we're like rabbits or cockroaches) and I had a decent support network. Some Japanese people live in such utter isolation and solitude it'd almost fit the very definition of mental illness itself, let alone any actual mental illness issues they may have. Wake up, travel 1hr to work on crowded faceless train, work ass off, late, come home, sleep, day in and day out, weekends catch up on sleep, watch TV, sit quietly in apartment, repeat, wash, rinse, repeat. I'm not saying its everyone but there are some people out there who live like this.

I don't think it is because of the Japanese cultural background.
If it were so, such incidence must have been a Japanese tradition for long.

To me it seems to be the immaturity of the person.

Those who went for random stabbing/killing always blame others but themselves when they don't get what they want.
For them their unhappiness (of various degree) always comes from others - parents, family, school, society, etc. Never have a thought that they can/should change anything by themselves.

I noticed another tendency, most of them cannot express their feelings with words. So when they are not happy or they don't like something, instead of communicating with others, they just "explode" - go into violence (from yelling, shouting, kicking the things to stabbing or plunging into a crowd with a car, etc.)

  • Temporary insanity due to the effect of prescribed drugs which compromised the individual's (normal) ability to abide by their own code of conscience.

To put it slightly differently I think it is due to a person being unable to know the difference between right and wrong, and this state is reached as a result of taking prescribed pharmaceuticals which are intended to have a psychological effect.

Psychiatric drugs also often have the effect of producing paradoxical behaviour in the person using them. This fact is not commonly known. Naturally the people who write of the contraindications of drugs are the people who manufacture them (for profit).

And then again these people who turn to murdering strangers are also often apparently mentally deranged for other reasons which may be stress caused by current nightmarish existence, such as as a result of the over-use of a multitude of electro-magnetic radiating devices, such as cell phones and especially TV screens. They do seem to be people who had become sociopathic/sociophobic in the run-up to their unpleasant acts.

How to fix the problem? :- Stop psychiatric meds and start to get a grip of things by social interaction of a level which is comfortable.

How not to solve the problem (make it worse) :- Give more drugs and encourage the use of even more electronic devices which emit EMR.

What will occur? The latter of course. For a controlled and ignorant & paranoid sheople is what the leaders want.

  • It's not very nice to direct a slew of insults at the general population of the board.

    Yes.

The truth is the most potent weapon and it should be tempered. I was feeling kind when I mentioned how you appear to me.

Anyway. Anyone know of a decent forum where thinking expats can speak without being disturbed by the children?

    Anyway. Seriously:-

I'm out of here. What a waste of time this place is for me.

  • Sounds like this Mael character went off his own meds.

Some people do have psychotic or manic reactions to these drugs, but for every one of them you can find a lot more who are helped. I can name four or five people of my own acquaintance who are able to lead some semblance of a normal life thanks to these drugs. In the US only psychiatrists, not psychologists, can prescribe these drugs.

People went crazy and killed themselves or others long before the development of psychiatric medications, so it doesn't make sense to blame these meds for most such cases.

  • Huh? I haven't heard anything about the people involved in the stabbing incidents being on drugs. Where are you getting this information from?

Over the past five years there have been half a dozen or so 'high profile' bizarre murders which have similarities to the recent spectacle in Tokyo. (ie - the murder of complete strangers for one).

I have known the true effects of prescribed pharmaceuticals for many years, and thus because of my knowledge of the symptoms of these drugs, I was immediately reminded that such symptoms were rather obvious in these incidents. And subsequently made it my business to find out as much as I could about the mental state of the perpetrator before the 'news' was finally made safe for public consumption.

    * What I mean is that information regarding the psychoactive drugs these people were taking was to be found early in the 'news' reports on the radio etc... .

    * This information is not what the establishment wants you to have, and so it is as rare as hens' teeth these days.

But I hope this article will make you feel you want to check on the issue yourself and find some links which are more to your liking.

    * Prescribed drugs are the new 'religion.' The government loves them. It gives them scope to add new laws and become more powerful.

    * Have you seen these 'mental health' clinics springing up all over the place like mushrooms? I have!

    * Clinical psychology is a big con. I hope you can determine this for yourself.

    I hope this helped.

    * I picked this article out pretty quickly, but on a brief scan it should sow some seeds for thought for you.
