'm taking an intro Criminal Justice class and am writing a paper on convicted felons attire. While the main part of the paper is on how facilities actually dress and restrain the offender, I'd like to have a section on people's opinion of clothing and restraints.
(The assignment is to write on a topic that interests us and I'm very much into clothing so I thought I'd combine this interest with the class.) Jonathan Martin's Blog: Obama picks up 'houses' - Politico.com:: At least with McCain's homes, I'm sure he didn't use a convicted felon to . You should all make the same amount, have the same college degree, wear the http://www.politico.com/blogs/jonathanmartin/0808/Obama_picks_up_houses.htmlHOME |
NOTE: I worded the question as convicted felon as the paper is not about jail or those prior to arriving at prison.
I'd like to hear your opinion on what offenders should:
1) Wear and under what circumstances. for example: outdoor and indoor clothing might be different
2) What restraints should a facility use and when? Deep Thought: Millions incarcerated. But do they all need to be?:: For example, we say that convicted felons have the right to seek employment. that their mentally ill prisoners wear yellow clothing to set them apart, http://tiodt.blogspot.com/2008/02/millions-incarcerated-but-do-they-all.htmlHOME | United States v. Durham - AltLaw:: While no one was killed or seriously injured at any of the banks, firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm during a crime of violence. http://altlaw.org/v1/cases/1120917HOME |
3) Any other comment, experience, etc you have on offenders clothing and restraints
I thought about limiting this question in some way (e.g. security level) but decided not to so I can get a breath of responses.
Typically in a prison everyone wears the same "uniform". Where I'm from the inmates wear White and Green horizontal stripped uniforms. Everywhere is different. Restraints are usually a waist chain with the handcuffs attached to and then leg cuffs attached to as well.
Every place is different.
Has your topic been approved by your professor/teacher? To me Attire has absolutely nothing to do with Criminal Justice. when i was in college I wrote a variety of CJ papers - Women in Prisons, Kids Who Kill, K9 Policing, Media Effects on violence, comparative paper on another countries CJ system to US CJ system. I think you can find a better topic....
they usually wear black trousers and grey jumpers
they all dress the same, that should be a key point, that they dress them same, as if sum1 wears like gold chains an ****, its gonna get robbed, and smuggled out
my next door neighbour works at strangeways prison in manchester, and he told me just minutes ago, he has seen a lot, including having gun pointed at him, seeing a grass have his head blown off, found him in a car, and even using stun grenades during a hostage situation
I like to see them in docile colors, pinks and lavenders. No red and no black. Blaze orange is good for outside in case they run. A separate distinctive jump suit for death row inmates so that anyone seeing them will know they are high risk.
Has this election brought out the absolute worst in us or could we possibly sink even further?
