Convince your dad that you will look after your dog - not just when he is new - but always. Show him you are a responsible person and really care about animals. Ask his advice about Yorkshire Terriers and listen! Show him some respect and love - and mean it. If your mum is on your side that has to be good doesn't it - but maybe you are being stubborn too - someone has to give.
Show responsibilty that you can take care of the dog. Do the opposite of what you did to your other dog. Such as, washing the dog, brushing it, taming it, things like that. I hope this helps. National Geographic Channel - Have a Question for Cesar?::

well dont bring it up tell your mom 2 . show magor responsibility and in a mounth ask him adouldt like and sufisticate he'll apreasheate it like say dad im sorry ive been bugeing you but it has been a dream since a few years ago to show im responible inuf to be a dog owner its realy hard so is there any way i coud help pay and keep it in my room and then if you see that i cant keep it nice and clean we can give me a punish meint bang desid it be for i get it i wont bug u any more but please give me an answer by the end of the mounth or give it to me on my b-day (this will work on parents only)
You say "another dog". Does this mean that you already have one? Or did you have one and it died? Anyways does/did you dad like the one you have/had? If so there may be hope, especially since it seems your mother is on your side.
You could always do what I did at your age when I wanted another cat but my parents said No. I simply went and brought a kitten home (twice) and hid it in my room for a couple of days and then let Mom see it first (because she is the softy type) and then there was no question we were keeping it. If you do this though make sure the dog is not a pest to your father at least for a month until he learns to like it. Good luck.
