These are some of the most legendary blues artist ever. When I go play blues at open jams I always hear several of these guys songs.
I like John Lee Hooker, Howlin' Wolf, Sonny Boy Williamson, Lightnin' Hopkins, Son House, Muddy Waters. Old school. Try Buddy Guy and Keb' Mo'. They are both great. But if you're more of a rocker, listen to Cream, George Thororgood, Led Zeppelin's first two albums, John Mayall Bluesbreakers. Lot of Hendrix's live stuff had blues jams. Eric Clapton has a newer CD out called "Me and Mr Johnson", where he just kills it on all of Robert Johnson's old stuff. Try finding that, it's great. Rhythm Of Blues:: Bands such as Rhythm of Blues play music for the right reasons and it comes track on the new Polydor compilation "Spirit of Joy" and I would recommend http://www.redadmiralrecords.com/rhythmofblues/HOME |
If you like blues harp try Paul Butterfield, Charlie Musslewhite, Junior Wells, James Cotton
For guitar B.B. King, Buddy Guy
Also try Albert Collins, Anson Funderburgh ,Coco Montoyo, Debbie Davies, Ronnie Earl, Rory Block, Howlin Wolf ,Willie Dixon, Paul Lamb, Paul Oscher Jonathan Stout and his Campus Five, featuring Hilary Alexander :: But let me be clear, this ain't no "jump blues on the swing tip" . this listener and Jazz lover has heard or expected to hear in a small group setting in http://www.campusfive.com/reviewsnew.htmHOME | Billtown Blues Association CD Reviews 2007:: There's not a cut on the CD that I would not recommend highly. ..
