I'm doing a history project and i got to choose what i wanted to do it on so i chose Auchwitz because it's interesting...does anybody know any facts/information on Auschwitz???
If you can figure out how to get on here and ask the question, you can easily type in "Auschwitz" and do Google search. You'll get more information than you ever wanted, unfortunately.
If you chose Auschwitz because it's interesting, then it must mean you already have some information about it.
It was the largest Nazi concentration camp where hundreds of thousands of people died (if not millions - no one knows exactly how many people died there). It was one of the death camps. -The Truth Behind The Gates of Auschwitz - (download torrent) - TPB:: 600 pages full of facts, evidences. They could count the jewish population with modern machines before the ww2, there is no doubt about the numbers, some http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/3317938/-The_Truth_Behind_The_Gates_of_Auschwitz_-HOME | Auschwitz: Inside the Nazi State . Glossary . A B C | PBS:: For example, ask if they have heard of Auschwitz and what it is. You may find that students have as much misinformation as facts. At the least, you will get http://www.pbs.org/auschwitz/learning/guides/HOME |
Google for more facts and information; there is a lot on the internet about Auschwitz.
One thing, make sure you're not in Germany. Here are the links....enjoy

A lot of people died
If you typed the word Auschwitz into your search engine, you would have more information than you might be able to use.
It is in Poland. It is the site of what is probably the most famous and infamous Nazi death camp where hundreds of thousands if not millions of Jews died in gas chambers and their bodies burnt in crematoria. According to a Jewish acquaintance of mine, there are still ashes visible in nearby streams. The Jews were brought in on cattle trains. Those that did not die on the trains were paraded by an SS trooper who would look at each person and point to the right or to the left. If the person went to the right, he or she was put to work. If he or she went to the left, he or she went to the gas chambers. The old, handicapped weak, ill or children too young to work went to the gas chambers. The allies obviously could not bomb the prison camp, but they could have bombed the railroad lines feeding it. They did not. It would not have stopped the mass murders, but it would have slowed it a little and it would have at least shown a desire to stop it.
Several years ago, I met an Auschwitz survivor. I saw the tattoo on her arm and was mute for a long time. She was a delightful person who told me what happened, but didn't dwell on it. She celebrated the day she was liberated as her birthday. She died a few years ago in her eighties. If there is a loving God, I know she's in Heaven. A loving God would not make her go through Hell twice.
