My mom told me if a used car has alot of mileage on it then the car could be "on its last leg". Im looking for ether a nissan (altima/maxima) or a toyota (camry or corolla) or something that's a decent size car. No trucks. anything between the year of 2000 and 2005. can anyone help me? (i live in new jersey)

  • a good price for a used car is any where from 1,500-5,000 dollars.
my advice for a good used car would be like a 99 camry they last forever and are nice cars find one with about 100,000 miles nothing over 125,000 and you will have a car that will last over 250,000 miles if you take care of it. you can probably get one for around 2500$ they are also cheap to insure.

  • The best way is to go to craigslist.com and checking out.. :) GOOD LUCCCKKK

  • Nissan is alright ... their upline version called Infiniti is amazing.
Toyota is still the best for quality in that range of years IMO.
How much were you looking to spend?
Check out autotrader.com and see whats available in your area.
You can always call your local Toyota dealerships and tell them what you want and they can find it for you and bring it in.
At least that way you have the added security of buying a used vehicle off a dealership lot after they've checked it over...but it will also cost a little more.

  • between 400 and 600 dollars. if that much..

  • Your mom don't know nothing. You are looking at an 8 year old car. Heck I buy them 15 years old and drive them for 5 years and sell running just for another different 15 year old car. Free is the best price.

  • go get a local newpapper and check the classifieds

  • it all depends on what kind of car you're lookin for, how many miles it has, the condition its in, you have to factor all those out.

for a starter car at this day i would say somewhere around 2-5k for a decent one...so you can use it for couple years

  • look to buy a honda accord.a year 2000 with150000 miles on it it will cost u 3500 at most. and they can keep going for years. and 05' will cost about 5-7000. corollas are good too. but honda is a gas saver. and theyre retail value almost stays the same if you wanna sell it agian

  • I found a 2001 Nissan Altima GXE with 23,000 miles (I think) for $4,600 in really good condition. Nissans, Toyotas, Hondas are all AWESOME cars as they last FOREVER with proper car.

Try the classifieds, be weary of repossed cars. The owners tend to not care when they know its going to be repoed lol.

Look on kbb.com to see about what a used car with the miles on it should be around.

    Good luck.

  • My advice to you would be to look at a Nissan Altima 2002 or newer. A Mazda or Mitsubishi are also very good choices and they generally sell for much less than the more popular Toyota. Something in the $8000 price range. Another very good alternative is the Chevy Malibu. American made but well built and economical. They also sell for low prices on the used market.

  • True, always take the mileage into consideration, but don't let that be your deciding factor. My last car had 200,000 KM on it when I bought it, but it was so wonderfully maintained that it wasn't a concern. The car I ave now has 300,000 miles on it (I'm in Canada it came up from the states) and the engine is in perfect condition. It's not the original one in it anyways. I had a Buick that was under 100k (50thousand miles) and the engine and tranny blew out on my in under 6 months.
