my relationship is kinda funny......i first met him last year skating and he was making my best friend REALLY upset so when he looked at me or her i would tell him he was ugly and that kinda stuff.......(:D) but then my friend and him made up and she took me down to see him and his brother and sister.....after that one visit...he basically fell in love...he liked me alot and asked me out the next time i saw him.....i didnt know what to say at first because he is like the only guy so far to EVER ask me out.............(but then again i am only 13 and i havent lived very long yet....) so i said yes. that is where i am now i go down to his house with my friend every weekend now.....i like him more and more every time though........i really do.... loveLife Youth::

Ive had two major relationships in my life. The first lasted ten years and we were great friends first. The relationship Im in now is going on its eleventh year and we just dated without a friendship first. In my experience its MUCH easier if your friends first. Its a struggle to be sexually involved first before knowing the person or being friends. The sex complicates it because I personally found it confused me. I couldnt work out how I really felt about the relationship because there wasnt a friendship there to start with. Taking it to another level without friendship to fall back on when things get tough is what I found hard.

That being said, there are arguments both for and against dating your friends. On the plus side, you already know each other's tastes, beliefs, and values - it's like starting from date 10. On the down side, if it doesn't work out, it could potentially cause the end of your friendship, and worse, cause your group of friends, if applicable, to have to take sides, or it could be really awkward for everyone if you still have to interact with your ex.
So, in short, I think it's worth crossing the line for a genuine emotional relationship, but not for a physical fling.

I was friends with all my bf's b4 I started dating them. It's better to be friends with someone first before you start dating them. You'll know the person better on an easier level as friends so you'll know if you would want to be in a relationship with this person more than if you just started dating them.
