whenever i launch xbmc, i get a static locked window that says dd db in the lower right corner of my screen. it can't be turned off and i can't access any of the menu items.
the window responds to my left thumbstick, but whenever i use d-pad or right thumbstick, the xbox switches off.

i have reinstalled xbmc from 09.09.04 and backwards, sometimes xbmc starts without it, but with every version it will eventually come up.
sorry if this is the wrong forum to post in, but i was unsure.
this problem resurface again. wipe out the whole of xbmc and the udata and tdata and reinstall an old previously cvs working version will not solve the problem.

ummm, don't think so, i have this problem with all builds after july-23-2004 and i am using the default mayhem skin from those builds. how can i get the latest mayhem skin seperate from building from cvs?
i had the same issue and in my case it was the old dialogvolumebar.xml.

the sensitivity of the analog buttons is not adjustable - that is why the volume control pops up on some peoples setups (likely with controllers that are stuck a little off-center - you people hardcore gamers? :p )
i will make this editable. probably a tag in xboxmediacenter.xml.
i had this problem too. if i'm not wrong, it started when i use an old xboxmediacenter.xml. however subsequently replacement with the latest xboxmediacenter.xml will not solve the problem.
i solved the problem accidently (took 4 hours), which i can't remember the steps now, but trick is to remove these files
reference.xml
in the font directory (skin or media).
then replace your old xboxmediacenter.xml with the lastest version.
i may wrong, but u can give it a try.
well, i tried the latest skin [09-14-2004] and it didn't solve the problem. un-attaching the analog manual controller i never use anymore seems to solved the popup of the volume bar issue for me...so far (too soon to say if this is for certain the source of my troubles).
there must be a change to the sensitivity to the controllers since 07-23-2004 and that change meant the xbox started reacting to a minor flaw in my old controller that was not registered by xbmc before then.
is it possible to edit a .xml file to change the sensitivity to the right analog joystick so i won't get this constant volume bar appearance?

no, the sensitivity is not editable at the moment. it seems to only happen for very few people, so it looks like it's controller dependent.
the setting should be easy enough to change in the code. please post an official request on the sourceforge.net site so that we can track it.
