After having read a number of complaints about AC on FT, I wasn't expecting much from my LAX/YVR and YVR/YEG flights in F. I was very pleasantly surprised and, on the last leg, actually stunned by the quality of the service. The planes were spotless and the FAs were attentive and friendly. I was happy to receive breakfast on the LAX/YVR leg -- UA doesn't even serve meals on a flight of that duration. I was really impressed, however, by the YVR/YEG flight. We received pre-flight beverages (including alcohol on request) -- something I haven't seen on a US carrier in a year or two. What absolutely amazed me, though, was we were offered an "appetizer," which included a hot or cold choice. I took the cold choice, which turned out to be a nice selection of cheeses and cold meats along with a roll from which I constructed a quite satisfactory and substantial sandwich. There was even tasty Dijon mustard and a sweet gherkin. And this was on a 57 minute flight! The only other times I've experienced this level of service and amenities on such a short flight was domestic air travel in China.

Well done, AC! As I must go to Edmonton periodically, I will be sure that my travel is on AC rather than my usual carrier, UA -- and I'll still get UA miles and EQMs. :)

  • I took AC in C on YYZ-ICN. Food was nothing special, but the seat (suite) was wonderful and the crew was phenomonal. Couldn't do enough to serve and very attentive.

I'd fly AC again long haul in C. ^

  • I was happy to receive breakfast on the LAX/YVR leg -- UA doesn't even serve meals on a flight of that duration.

Actually, UA DOES serve meals/snacks on flights between LAX-SEA (which is a little shorter). Oddly, UAs schedule shows no meal between LAX-YVR (AC codeshare/UAX flights).

  • I'm sure you meant Executive Class which is J class (as indicated by the J, C, D, Z booking classes). AC has no F class. You are correct. AC's J class is comparable to F domestic product in the U.S. in terms of seats and pricing, but seems far ahead in terms of amenities.

  • Pre-flight beverages, I have never seen that on a non-INTL flight with AC.

  • Post like this will not be tolerated in this forum. Your level of acceptance must have been so dulled by flying US carriers domestically that even AC's shabby offering looked good by comparison. By your third or fourth such trip you will come down to earth and become just as cynical and AC-hating as most of the people who post on this forum.

Very sharp, lens with nice "bokeh". Lens design is very simple. I cleaned my self, this lens was the most logical construction in my experience.

You're forgiven this once, but don't let us catch you making another positive post about AC, ya'll hear!!!! (Particularly because some FTers in Edmonton have a hate on AC, so your own safety cool it!)I'm sorry. I'll try to do better in the future. ;)

  • The flight was scheduled for 90 minutes (gate to gate) but we apparently had fairly substantial tail winds. As I recall, the pilot remarked on the short flight time before we took off though, to be honest, I wasn't really paying a lot of attention I was happily involved with the screwdriver I had been served. ;)

Those must have been some damned strong tailwinds! I've had 3h+ flights sped up by 30 minutes, but never anything quite like that. Did it make the ride bumpy at all?

Did it make the ride bumpy at all?The seat belt sign was on most of the flight, but it wasn't so bad that the FAs had to be seated. Also, we were 57 minutes in the air, not gate-to-gate. I suspect we probably shaved 10 or 15 minutes off the actual flight time. I see that kind of variation fairly frequently when I fly UA between SFO and LAX -- one day, it will be a 55 minute flight, the next 1:20.

Which flights offer domestic F in the US? I know it exists but thought it was limited to a very select handful. US carriers (CX doesn't count.)

  • Which flights offer domestic F in the US? I know it exists but thought it was limited to a very select handful. US carriers (CX doesn't count.)All the legacies in the US offer what they call "F" domestically, but it really is a J product, equivalent (more or less) to Executive Class on AC and identical to J on international. UA offers a true F product on their PS-service transcons. CO used to (and may still) offer true F-class seating, but not service, on some of their wide bodies that have a domestic leg before going transoceanic. I think AA may also have some 3-class aircraft that are operated domestically.

  • Glad you enjoyed the in-flight service trip out to YEG, though had thought YVR-YEG was longer than 57 minutes. Maybe the service was so good time just flew by on what is normally a 90 minute flight. ;)The flight was scheduled for 90 minutes (gate to gate) but we apparently had fairly substantial tail winds. • A good lesson learned about what you read on the internet with anonymity being the prime motivator for negative posting.
Most bad news is always in need of checking and is usually a one of in the case of AC. They do most often offer good and decent service as compared to US airlines.

  • AC has come a LONG way.... they really have one of the best seats in NA and for sure one of the best J international seats!^ [for NA airlines]
Just got home from my FAV 777 plane today^

PS I fly SEA SFO on UA a lot and im always surprised its not a meal flight?

  • Actually, UA DOES serve meals/snacks on flights between LAX-SEA (which is a little shorter). Oddly, UAs schedule shows no meal between LAX-YVR (AC codeshare/UAX flights). :confused:I've only flown SFO/SEA on UA -- nothing was served, not even pretzels. The same was true yesterday, DEN/SFO. ATL/DEN served breakfast, but by the time the FA got to me, the hot breakfast was gone and only the fruit plate was available, which I didn't want -- my breakfast was two screwdrivers. :)

Ah! That makes sense. I thought you meant it had cut the actual FT that much!

I've been in the "seat belt sign on the whole flight" situation before - never any fun. I keep mine fastened at all times anyway (CAT is my nightmare), but I like being able to run to the washrooms when I need to.
