I live in the UK, currently downloading desperate housewives season 2. It is 11:15 p.m. I want to know why my torrent speed download is reaching up to 55 download rate and 40 upload rate with 4 seeds and 42 peers.
I find this to be quite high because earlier, 2:00pm, with about 10 seeds and about the same amount of peers it was only reaching to about 15 download and upload.
My preferences are 40 for maximum upload rate and 0 for download rate. I can't remember why I set it to 0, so any help on this would also be appreciated!
Once again, I would like your help on how to make the most of the speed. Thanks!
It is a common practice of UK ISPs to limit P2P bandwidth during peak hours. Usually from 11PM to 6 or 7 AM is a good time to download.
As to your settings, leaving download at 0 (unlimited) is fine as using too much download bandwidth is rarely an issue.
However, upload should be capped at 80% of the overall upload capacity of your internet connection. If upload is set too high, or unlimited, download speeds (and surfing) will suffer as needed communications will not be able to get through.
