Dear all,
I just flew YUL to YYZ today and upon picking up my suitcase at the belt, I noticed that part of my suitcase was torn and that the zippers to the main compartment was crushed and broken off.

I spoke with the personal in charge at the counter beside the exit, but was told that such damages are not covered. He did, however, gave me a phone number of a repair shop...

Avoid Damaged and Lost Luggage::
Pre-inspect for broken or missing components, such as zippers, wheels, handles, it's also the size of the suitcase that will trigger a penalty.

If nothing is missing from your bag, I'd say you were very lucky indeed!
One of the repair shops AC uses is Evex. They're excellent and we've got a few pieces of luggage from there.
