Yes, it's your normal log on password. It won't show the figures you're typing though, so although you might not think you're typing anything, you are - just pop your password in, hit enter then it should be fine! Persevere with Ubuntu - it really does outshine all the other OS's in my very humble opinion :)

You just type your normal password. Don't press enter first, it doesn't show you typing as a security measure (so someone looking over your shoulder can't see how long your password is).
When it says sudo password for ryan, just type in your password you log in with. The characters do not appear so as just type it in and hit enter.
