| | Anyone have a guess why Rapidair passes in T+ are more expensive than Canada East passes in T+? Seems a bit odd given that the Rapidair pass is basically a very restricted version of the Canada East pass.
It is a pain in the *** but not all flight combination are available to book online with the pass. I used to have no issues in getting agents to change the tickets without a fee but the last 2 times I had to flight for it.
put your dates times routes descired and those of us with passes can try to see if we can pull it or what we can pull.
I see that the Rapidair T+ is slighly cheaper than the Canada East T+.
10 credit by $50 and 20 credit by $100. Am I missing something?
Price appears to be corrected now. it was roughly the opposite for the 10 credit one when I posted.
Anyone notice how the price of flight passes keep going up? I have only ever bought the Rapidair Latitude flight passes.
Agreed, prices keep going up and we've changed our business policy to stop buying them in most cases as a result. It's not worth it in many cases. Too bad for AC - we would have purchased numerous more.
I guess it's in-line with general pricing though. Flights to CDG and FRA went way up over the past couple of years. Flights to China are just plain too high. I fly United to Asia now - and get almost 2x the Q miles for it too.
I've haven't really considered buying a flight pass until now. For the route I usually fly for work, it looks like a flight pass will now be considerably cheaper than booking individual flights. I'm looking at a Canada West - Tango Plus pass (most likely the 30 credit business option for myself and a co-worker). Liverpool looking to complete STRANGE £16m deal | CaughtOffside.com:: He fluked one pass which he never intended to be a pass when the ball was ending up there because Liverpool would even lower the price to send him to http://www.caughtoffside.com/2008/08/18/liverpool-looking-to-complete-strange-16m-deal/HOME |
I'm wondering if anyone can tell me how the routings on the flight passes work. Do only the most direct (i.e. non stop, if available) routes show up, or do all the same options show up as on the regular booking page (provided the correct booking class is still available)?
The reason I ask is this, when I travel, the last non-stop flight typically leaves too early to be useful. I've been taking a later flight with a connection via YYC. I just don't want to shell out for a flight pass and find out that the flights I need are unavailable.
Thanks for any insight people can provide...
I used to think the flight passes were excellent value. Now I'm not so sure.
But now many pax are hooked on the idea....and won't backaway from it so quick. Part of the inital pass marketing plan, but the upgauge is probably more agressive than first proposed. I saw a client pass yesterday that was purchased a North American pass b/c they had 2 YUL to SEA trips on the books. The other 3 trips were used as YUL to YYZ. They paid more than full fare J to travel 3 times to YYZ b/c AC has them so wrapped up in their passes its the only way feel they can travel now.
Why would you get 2X the Q miles?
Not exactly 2x the amount of the actual distant, but as another poster indicated 150% of the actual mileage flow in F. Meaning an extra 50% of the actual mileage added to the full mileage.

Anyone notice how the price of flight passes keep going up? I have only ever bought the Rapidair Latitude flight passes. Here is what I paid (taxes incl):
4/24/04 10 credits $2390.00 $239/credit
6/29/04 20 credits $4580.00 $229/credit
6/13/05 20 credits $5114.60 $256/credit
10/30/06 10 credits $3010.40 $301/credit
04/25/07 10 credits $3010.40 $301/credit
Not purchased, but prices noted:
May's price 10 credits $3275.40 $328/credit
today's price 10 credits $3540.40 $354/credit
today's price 20 credits $6656.80 $333/credit
I know the 20 credit passes are marginally cheaper than the 10 credit passes, but I came close to not using my 20 passes before they expired once, so I decided to pay a little more for the 10 credit ones.

Why would you get 2X the Q miles?
First class (150% miles), plus connecting through the US extends the distance considerably.
I stopped buying the Rapidair passes and the Porter passes because I can get better fares by booking the individual flight segments than I can with the pass products. For example, for a flight tomorrow, I am paying $99 compared to the Rapidair pass price of $301 and the Porter pass price of $232.
The flights I'm most interested in are between YMM and YEG
YMM to YEG on Thursdays and Fridays - any upcoming week, I just want to see what is typically available. Is there an option for the 8:00pm departure via YYC? What other options are available earlier in the day?
YEG to YMM I'm not too worried about.
Also, with the flight pass for business, up to 8 employees can be listed. Does anyone know if any of the 8 people can book their own flights, or does the flight pass owner have to book? (I'm hoping that it is only the flight pass owner that can book).
Thanks!
Yes, but how long ago did you have to book that flight? I loved the passes because I could book at the last minute, and keep changing with no fees. My schedule can be pretty erratic at times.
I booked it tonight for tommorrow afternoon.
This ususally works on mid week flights, but never works for booking a Monday flight on Sunday.
or do all the same options show up as on the regular booking page (provided the correct booking class is still available)?
There is one major bug on the flight pass reservation system that has been around for two years plus and nobody at Air Canada cares about (typical for IT), you need to be aware of the following:
When you book a flight with the regular online pages, you will be given the choice of all the day's flights available.
When you book a flight with the pass reservation system, and leave the departure time as "anytime", only the first handfull of flights in the morning will be proposed. You absolutely need to select a departure time in the afternoon or the evening if you want to see those displayed.
So "anytime" really means "morning only".
It took me awhile to realize that bug, and a few flights with Westjet out of YUL.
I called web assistance to report the bug a couple of times for the past two years and they showed disbelief or no interest.:td:

I agree, with OP, many of the prices are now irrational.
I've bought two East-West Latitude passes in the past. Current pass price is now $1120 plus GST for return trip (Used to be $900-$1000).
With at least 1 week notice, I can consistently book Latitude prices for the same price or less, confirm my u/g at time of booking, and not have to give AC $5K up front to hold for the better part of a year until I use all the segments.
There's no incentive any more based on the more expensive pass prices. And more recently the 24hr advance upgrade has become less incentive because it started to become less than 100%, while when I book non-pass flights I can confirm u/g at time of booking. In fact I call SE desk prior to booking to confirm I sapce, and then book, so I know I've always got the u/g
For Rapidair, the Latitude fares, even when purchased same day, are less than the pass prices in many cases. Seems like AC Pass Product Managers are trying to grab too much too quickly.

How much does getting a small tattoo on your hip/stomach hurt?
Do anyone else have an itchy anus? ?
