I have some light rectal bleeding going on. It started about...three days ago, perhaps two. It got rather uncomfortable to walk today.
I think it may have been caused by the fact that I've been eating a lot of oatmeal, and sometimes I don't chew it properly (due to time restraints) i.e. like this morning, when I had to rush out to the bus but still ate a huge bowl of oatmeal...probably half chewed. Yes, oatmeal is usually thought of as great fiber and if anything, healthy for your colon, etc, but if it's been going through undigested couldn't this have caused scratchings on the rectum wall and what not?
It's not bleeding profusely...but still. Anyone know if the oatmeal could be the reason? I just thought of the possibility of it being oatmeal today, after breakfast, hence why I still ate it in the morning.
I really don't want to think about the alternatives...
Oatmeal is not going to cause rectal bleeding, especially 3 days of it. Something else is wrong (hemorrhoids, polyps, bowel obstruction, diverticulitis, etc.). You need to be evaluated by a doctor because this is serious.
You might want to see a physician , it could be the start of hemroids or a fisul.
no oatmeal does not cause bleeding see a Doctor asap
Try instant oats with really hot water or milk of soy
