I have Realtek high definition audio sound card and windows XP. If I want to hear sound through desktop speakers I have to put headphone jack in headphone front green socket and than take it out so can hear through speakers. Or do the same thing with the mic jack in pink socket but the mic method no longer seems to kick start the sound. Once the jack is pulled out sound works. How can I fix this. Gone through all the troubleshooter i.e no problems in device manager, no conflicts, all turned on. Driver is 2.10.2007 date. The speakers are plugged into the back sound socket. Download Realtek AC97 Drivers 4.06 Free - Realtek sound driver.:: It is used as onboard sound on many motherboards. Thanks
This is a common problem it seems. It is caused by a loose connection in the speaker jack. As far as I know there are no known fixes for this unless there is some way to solder the connection back into place.
