How does havingParkinson's Disease effect the over 65's social, emotional and physical development?
I noticed that my loved one is not as positive. Still sociable but emotionally feels down at times, frustrated at limitations, down on self from time to time. Physically can do less and less as time goes on, it has been 13 yrs though doing fairly well considering, the mobility factor is declining. not able to walk as well, a lot of freezing at gait, but the rhythm to any beat or tune you can sing to them or them sing to themselves, counting as well helps get the brain to better relay to the feet to "get moving along". It is funny at times with my mother and I,
when I sing "We're off to see the wizard and slap my hand on my leg to a beat along with it, she can get going and once she goes, it is hard
to keep up with her. Sounds strange to tell someone with parkinson's
to slow down so when she goes like a bat out of hell then I let her go!
Hugs
PS: Best way to keep up a good challenge with PD is to keep an open
mind, try to stay positive, never give up, laugh, and keep a sense of humor. I dropped mom off from shopping one day, took her groceries inside her house, came out and she was stuck behind my car unable to move. I came out of the house and said "you're still out here, what the heck are you waiting for?" we both laughed and we just make the best of it..
