Dear docanddolly-ga;
Thank you for allowing me to answer your interesting question. Please
note our disclaimer below that we do not provide legal or medical
advice in this forum. What I am showing you is a matter of published
data from a reputable source:
The answer to your question is both ?yes? and ?no?.
Opiates, including Demerol (meperidine) and others, NO:
These typically will not show up in a routine drug screen 30 days
later. The clearance rate of Demerol is roughly 2-3 hours or 2-3 days
in the case of a chronic user.
Benzodiazepines, including Valium (Diazepam) and others, YES:
These generally clear the system in a one time user in up to 7 hours,
In an occasional, but infrequent user the chemical can clear the
system in roughly 3 days, but in a ?chronic user? the clearance rate
can be as much as 4-6 weeks.
So, having said that, if you were given a substantial amount of
Diazepam 30 days ago, or a sustained drip for a significant time
during your hospitalization for intravenous sedation or pain control,
it is quite conceivable that your urinalysis test would indicate a
positive result in the same way as that of a ?chronic user? and that
the chemical could indeed still have an onboard presence after 30
days.
I hope you find that my answer exceeds your expectations. If you have
any questions about my research please post a clarification request
prior to rating the answer. Otherwise I welcome your rating and your
final comments and I look forward to working with you again in the
near future. Thank you for bringing your question to us.
