so i got my xbox media center from a friend, and anyway it was working great but i couldnt get it to work with the hd cables. (intro screen comes up playing background music then it would crash)
so i was trying some stuff and long story short i ftp'd to my xbox and renamed evoxdash.xbe because i was hopeing i could get to the ms dash to set my hd settings. anyway now i cant ftp to the xbox anymore to rename that file back.
i burned the evox iso onto a disc trying to get ftp back but my xbox doesnt seem to like it. its just a tdk cdr..does that matter? i used fireburner to burn it.
keep trying different discs... ur pretty much sol until you can get a evox bootdisc working. you should ask for help on the forums at www.xbox-scene.com.
woot it works again.. and with the hd cables.
i have no clue why it was crashing before.. i finally got htat boot disc working and i ftp'd and renamed my file back..and um yea now it works fine with either of my hd cables. *
but whatever it works now :)
by the looks of my logs it looks like it wasn't detecting the hd cables before.. no idea why *it is detecting them now.
edit: further looking into it if i try and change my resolution settings in the options to anything other than ntsc 16:9.. it gives a black screen and crashes. i tried 1080i, 720p, 480p..all crashed. my ms dashboard settings are set to say that yes my tv supports these.. my log file doesnt have any errors in it about the crash. no no auto run script.. it may not be millkdrop or whatever..but it looks like that. in the background.

i know my xbox has no problems reading burned dvd's..(i dont have a dvd burner though).. so im screwed here i guess...until i get my friend to give me a boot dvd i guess.
edit: finally got a cd-rw to work.. put a 350mb dummy file in the iso..and it worked. Can't boot into windows. [Archive] - SpeedGuide.net Broadband ::

on a side note.. any ideas why connecting with the component cables cause xbox media center to crash? the regular cables work fine. the component cables showed me the main menu in sweet looking resolution, but it seems like as soon as the little background music animation thing is aobut to pop up it crashes.
no idea... im using the m$ hd component cables and dont have such problems. if you get back into your xbox, post your xbmc.log file here.

this thing after media center loads..(seems like for a few seconds there i cant move hte c ursor or anything..) anyway once i have control of the cursor the bottom right background pops this visualization thing up.
going to go try out some other discs.
also i was using some generic cables.. i have the ms ones too i'll try those next (if i get this running again lol)

uh, milkdrop is a visualization. it should not start after xbmc loads. do you have an autoexec.py script starting a playlist or something?
