I have a male cat, he is now going to have another male adult cat move in. How do we make this an easy transition. The cat that lives here now is been here since he was a kitten. He pretty much runs in and out of the house the other has not been allowed outside. The cat moving in has his claws and the one that lives here now has only his back claws.
If both cats are neutered, once the initial "how dare you come into MY house" phase is over, there's no reason why they shouldn't get along.
Keep them both inside until they sort themselves out, once they are friends, your existing cat will show the other cat the ropes.
If one, or both are un-neutered, then they will never get along.
this may not be an easy transition male cats are naturally territorial and although i have had a situation where two male cats have resided in the same home and it can be done it takes time for them to get to know one another and respect each others territory. the fact that one has claws and one doesn't will be the problem when fights do occur good luck and best wishes.
