I am trying to figure out what kind of car I should get. I'm a 16 year old guy, not really into sports car, more into luxury sedans. I know, I know, its weird. But that's what I like. I want a fairly new car, like a 2002 BMW 745Li or a Jaguar XJ8, something in the $19,000 - $20,000 price range. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what would be a good luxury car, cheap on insurance, cheap to maintain and fairly good on gas?
Oh, by the way, anyone ever heard of a VW Phaeton? Are they good cars?
Jaguars have the best look. All three of your choices handle like you wouldn't believe.
yes, i have seen it. when you're this young, choose a Honda or a ford. BMW's are very nice, but they are the biggest gas guzzlers on the road. Mercedes-Benz, however, is the cheapest luxury car you can get. nice gas mileage too. i suggest the 2009 models. Jaguars are good, but not the best you can get. No BMW, Jaguar, MB, or VW Phaeton are cheap to insure, cheap to own, cheap to maintain, & are not good choices for a car at age 16. Most assuredly the insurance will eat you alive. All cars, no matter what it is, can eat fuel at a rapid rate if you have a lead foot. Until you establish yourself as a good driver, get a car that you can afford to loose, should make a really bad mistake. Find a nicely loaded used Civic and then one day when you are in touch with your ability to drive confidently, get those high end cars later in life. If you want cheap to maintain, good on gas, cheap to fix and insure, go for an Acura, Infiniti, or Lexus.
The German and British luxury sedans cost much much more to maintain and get worse gas mileage.
Acura TSX, TL, RL.
Infiniti G35, Q45, M45
Lexus ES, GS, LS.
The Phaeton is a great car, but it is much more expensive than $20,000 since it can go past 200mph.
The Phaeton competes with Bently and RollsRoyce.
It also shares some parts with the Bently.
Phaetons are awesome. Look into a D2 Audi A8 if you like Phaetons. Also, a C5 A6, B6/B7 A4 would be in that price range as well.
The Audi's are better looking then Jaguar and BMW, on par with Mercedes and lead their class (Audi BMW MERC) in interiors.
Jaguar had better days before Tata and Ford owned it. When Jaguar was British owned the quality was better.
BMW and Merc are equal.
Try a Accura or Lexus.
