You can not. Your parents pay the bills and make the rules. If you disagree with their decision, move.
Don't .. why would you be selfish and cruel enough to want to put any pet in an environment where it is not wanted by the entire family? How would you like living someplace where not everyone can stand you... besides, it is your parents, not you, that will be financially and legally responsible for any and all pets you want so until you are old enough to get out on your own and make a living then it is THEIR household and their decision, not yours and to try to 'convince' them otherwise is just not good for any animal. They likely have GREAT reason for their refusal -- it costs a LOT of money and involve a lot of time and effort to properly rear and care for any pet, particularly a dog...
Don't try. You are in THEIR house. Volunteer at the local shelter, or pet shop, and get a pet when you get into your own house or apartment. You can't. If your parents don't want pets, then you can't get any. That's just how it goes.
If you're old enough to get an animal yourself and have the means and money to take care of it, then do it.
I don't know how many times I came home with an animal!!
Ok, all kidding aside...
It's your parents house and what they say goes. I'm glad that you're respecting your parents and obeying. But if you REALLY want an animal, start out with something small. Show them that you can care for this little life and that you're responsible. Are your grades good? If not, then get them up! Show responsibility and maybe they'll budge a little. If you're grades are already up, then let them know that you do well in school and would like to take the responsibility of something else and that you've earned it. Easier said than done, but it's worth a try.
I would say do not try to convince them because a pet is like an extra bill. They have to provide your pet with everything that he or she will need. I would wait until they see how responsible you can be, and then mention it to them. Or just wait altogether. Pet owning can be challenging, not to mention if the baby gets sick, someone has to pay for vet bills. Someone has to pay for meds and treatment. Vet bill just lists how much you just paid a vet to confirm your dog was sick. That did not include all the time you have to spend with your sick animal, or administering meds. Even shots and spaying and neutering, all things to think about. Food and toys are number one. A dog without toys is like a bird with no wings. It ain't gone fly!! So I hope that one day you get the pet you want, because my mom didn't want me to have one either, but now that I am married in my own house I have 4 dogs!! Your time will come; until then, I encourage you to study the breed you want, learn about the life cycle of a dog, and read different questions on Y!A. Really helpful. God bless you.
i think you should say to your parents that u will feed, love, care and clean up after the animal.
You won't...best thing for you is to wait until you are out on your own...then you can make the decisions for yourself and you can get a dog that is all your own.
Dogs are a really big responsibility. You are pretty much becoming a parent when you adopt a dog. Here's a quiz to see if you are ready:
http://dogtime.com/ready-or-not/question...
You don't.. if the parents don't want a dog, you don't get a dog.
Do your chores. Clean the bath tub, toilet, and your bedroom. Wash the dishes. Make Mom and Dad lunch. Promise you will pay for everything if your pet gets in trouble. Everyday make them a gift. Cook all the food. Never argue with them! Listen to them as if you love them more then your self. Sign a a paper that says "I am responsible for everything my dog has done". Kiss your parents good night. Then plead everyday for the rest of your life. Please don't be mad if you don't like my ideas. I tried to put a little humor into it!
