I get canker sores all the time and find that Amosan by Oral B works really well for me.

We've known each other for a year, and been going out for two weeks. I know many people will say break up with him, but isn't that inhumane? I feel like breaking up with him is like treating him like some diseased animal, and...it's not really his fault...it runs in the family...
Plus, sooner or later he will find himself a girl just like me and get married so...what's the difference?
My mom told me it's my choice whether I want to kiss him or not, and I feel like sh*t because she told me it will infect our family too if I do...
I love him, but I'm so scared of getting oral herpes. I can't think of my life with anybody else...bad luck?
How serious are oral herpes? Does it develop to be like pictures I saw six years ago in Health Class? Is it really that terrible to have herpes, or just uncomfortable?
I'm not sure what type he has, because I heard it from his mom, not from him, and frankly, I'm a little afraid to ask him, he will think I'm doubting the relationship because of it?

You don't have to break up with him but many people will tell you to because there is a big negative stigma out there against herpes. It is your choice if you want to be wiith this guy or not. It's a little shallow though to break up with some one because they are most likely a good person besides the fact that they have oral herpes. Yes it's contagious but there are things you can do that will help you to not get herpes from him.
It's quite common to have 50-80 percent of the population has oral herpes which is the same thing as cold sores. Some people who have cold sores get them from a relative or child hood friend giving them a kiss on the cheek while that person had cold sores on their mouth, it's usually not genetic.
Oral herpes is not serious or life thretening, it's the same thing as cold sores and they are contagious while a sore is visible and while it's healing. It's not terrible to have oral herpes, the out breaks can be painful and socially embarassing but that is about it.

Please do not doubt this person just because they have oral herpes, that doesn't change their personality or who they are on the inside.
There are just some things you should remember when it comes to oral herpes. If you can love this guy for who he is then who cares what other people think.
NEVER kiss on the mouth or let him give you oral sex while he has any signs of a cold sore. Remember they are most contagious during an out break and while they are healing.
Try not to share things like chap stick, drinks or utensils while he has a cold sore. There is a possibility of getting oral herpes this way but not as much as the way I listed above.

Ok well oral herpes is something you shouldnt mess around with. It is contagious according to research and it can cause other skin problems. Actually it can cause other diseases which can be deadly, but that is rare. You should not feel afraid to ask him because you should find out from him what it is and what it can do to you if you get it. Do not make contact with the infected area until you find out from him how bad it is.
You know those cold sores you get in the winter time? That is a strain of herpes. It really is going to depend on what strain of herpes he has. My suggestion to you is to do some research on, and talk to your boyfriend about it. Express your concerns and ask him questions. Educate yourself on it from reliable sources, don't take everything these people on here say as being all correct.
it's not deadly but very contagious. i don't know what to tell you. it so hard when a out break can happen anytime, it it can spread before you see it. i wish you good luck. also you can get it on your vagina from his mouth. with out him putting his mouth there
