So I was looking at Comet yesterday when I realized that, assuming I fly everything that I've booked (which is almost guaranteed as it's all leisure), I will be 700 EQMs short of geting CO Gold for 07. Anyone have any ideas how to get this out of either SEA, PDX, or EWR on the cheap, ie 100 dollars or less? I looked at the AS SEA-PDX shuttle, but that thing is expensive. I was also thinking about routing a SEA-EWR flight through Florida, where it'd be about 150 bucks more than a straight SEA-EWR NS, but the hours are most inconvenient, and the time I want to book them is prime hurricane season (beg. and end of Sept.) I would prefer out of SEA or PDX, as I'm only near EWR for a couple times a year visiting family, which probably means AS, who never seem to have cheap fares. Thanks a lot.

Hi,
Please check out Alaska Airlines runs to Spokane, Portland, and Boise. They often compete with southwest for $39 or $49 each way on these routes and they usually have no restrictions such as Saturday night or minimum stay.
Alaska often has good weekend fares on Alaska from Seattle -- usually the restrictions are depart on Wednesday, Thursday, or Saturday and return on Saturday, Tuesday, or Wednesday (go to alaskaair.com -> deals -> Seattle). You can go Saturday and come back Saturday. Almost every weekend (except this one), they have Portland and Vancouver for $89 but this weekend the best they have is Yakima for $99/ $118 all in.
Any of these local Alaska/Horizon fares would give you 500 x 2 = 1000 Continental EQMs.
And a SEA-IAH-EWR is significantly more expensive than SEA-EWR. I'm trying to find a really short, cheap trick, as all flights earn at least 500 EQM, so one r/t should do it.
Consider Acela (Amtrak) from NYC to BOS or WAS. Also, if in the NYC area, look at LGA and PHL flights.
It is very early to be looking at year end qualification now; summer fares tend to be the hightest.
Follow the advice above. Try to find avail via IAH insead of a non-stop if you still have trips to book; the same fares tend to apply, but avail can make the connection more expensive. If you have already booked everything, wait for sched changed.
Then in Oct/Nov, when low fares are around, book something if you still need it.
where do you live? I'm in Longview so PDX is closer than SEA by about 60 minutes.
anyway, your best bet is probably PDX or SEA to SMF, which is frequently available on AS for under $100 all in with no minimum stay. They compete directly with various WN fare sales on that route. good luck.
If you find yourself in EWR and get a little tired of visiting the family on a weekend, the weekend deals from EWR always include some short hops for less than $100. You might consider nesting one of these inside a longer trip to get the 1K miles.
Your SEA-EWR will give you 4780 roundtrip, while a SEA-IAH-EWR 6540. You get more than your 700 EQMs needed and I am sure there is a vast schedule available that is not that inconvenient (at least compared to flying to FL!)
Thanks for the advice all. I actually found a fare that routes through IAD that's about the same as a SEA-EWR NS for the dates I need, although it's ex-PDX, but it's not that much further than SEA from where I am.
If you've already got several flights booked, keep your eyes out for schedule changes that might provide you the opportunity to add more lucrative routings or extra segments to get you over the EQM hump at no extra cost to you.
