Ideally it should be a flight leaving NYC later in the day and returning via a red-eye in the early morning.
Heve checked the usual ITA, dream maps etc.; but since the date is fixed and so soon, I'm not turning up any decent fares. 5 cents per status mile would be enough. So I'm turning to y'all for ideas...

It's 6.8 cents per status mile, but it's the closest I can find. (Also, not sure if this qualifies as "late in the day" departure..I'm guessing it doesn't). Then again, you probably couldn't get a decent hotel room in NYC for less than this. And you have some time in Vegas where you might be able to win back the entire cost of the ticket :D
