Send him whatever he eats at home in smaller portions and more of a variety. We used to send applesauce, those gerber cookie things that melt in their mouth (they look like tiny stars), the graduate foods he still liked, and his favorite juice and plenty of it. Yogurt or applesauce cups are easy. Any kind of pasta... it's easy to make a bunch on Sunday night and re-heat it during the week. Same with chicken breasts... cut in little pieces. My son loves graham crackers, bananas, and baby carrots.
When my daughter was that age, we sent leftovers from the previous nights dinner. Or I would make her macaroni and cheese, and cooked baby carrots.
By now he should be eating solids so you can provide him with lots of cut up fruits and soft vegetables, cheese slices, crackers, pasta, loose cereal if he can handle it. Consider giving him leftovers from dinner the night before if your caregiver doesn't mind warming things up a bit for him/her. Mini finger sandwiches might work too. Oh, don't forget yogurt cups too.
