Am I wrong or in the past Spirit only offered those fares on the outbound flight, but you were forced to buy a more expensive ticket on the return?
I think you're confusing Spirit's offer (which they're now calling "Ocho") with another small discount carrier. Spirit has generally made seats available in both directions, but it's very difficult for the "average traveller" to make use of them (they're the unsold, very off-peak days). Also, and not surprisingly, seats go fast. I once bought a ticket on Spriit and seem to be on their mailing list so I get early notice, which isn't a bad idea if you're interested (in case someone is slow to post them in mileage run).

I believe the other carrier was USA3000.

Agreed. Aren't they partially owbned by Marriott anyway?
Looks like a mistake to me. Too low. Therefore, it would be unethical to book it. Like stealing. Spirit would be totally justified in cancelling all these tickets when they learn of their mistake. [/sarcasm]
They do this all the time.Very few days are available, but seats are sold at these prices.Good advertising for them I guess. They just had a 9.00 fare for FL.

Yes. Spirit has a birthright to as much of my money as they can possibly get.[/sarcasm]

The $8 fare to CUN is only available:
LGA - CUN: 5/30, 6/4
CUN - LGA: 5/25, 6/2
Doesnt give you many options unless you leave 5/30 and come back 6/2.
Just tried plugging in 5/30-6/2 and got a fare in the hundreds. Looks like some spry retirees beat me to it. Not that I could've gone anyway, but maybe my spry parents would've. ;-)
peace,

Right now, it is 4/28 and 10:20 am on the east coast... Doesn't that fall between:

No Spirit is having an 8 dollar sale to lots of places
do they offer free upgrades to elites?
There doesn't seem to be any availability for New York <--> Cancun. :(

These Spirit deals are terrific if you're a retiree or something and have no job or family responsibilities. They obviously offer these single digit fares on days where bookings are low (aka "inconvenient days").
I sure hope there are a bunch of spry retirees getting to travel the Caribbean for next to nothing thanks to Spirit!

www.spiritair.com seems to be bogged down.
now, this is an 8 dollar fare. Is it a mistake? Or a real fare? How's a traveler supposed to know?
Did anyone actually get to book the $8 LGA-CUN trips??
