I have a site for a local basketball club.
But im not satisfied with the layout.
The site has the following url : http://msk.knoal.nl
Who can and want to think with me about a beautifull layout for the site.
I cant pay you because it a very small club.
I work at home with PSP 8.
Roelof
I Think youre right.
But what do you mean by Club, Members.
Are they menu-choices ???
If they are menu-choices I now use Algemeen (General) for things concering all teams, Heren 1 (Our first team), Aspiranten (our youth team). And then the submenu-choices for each item.
And why Photo-shop instead of Paint Shop wich i already have.
Roelof
Hello,
Can you help me later.
The first thing i want to do is to change the layout structure from table to a div structure.
But tonight i have to train with my dogs.
Roelof
P.S. Layout is converted and in a div structure. So any tips in converting into a mambo-template are welcome
I found a tutorial for editing but im stuck.
Terminator, if your post is directed toward me, the answer is somewhat. I was trying to help as for a theme for the lay out idea, and edit a template to suit the needs. Just trying to help. :eyebrow:
The menus for mambo are built in, sort of. Take a look at my site for an example of a horizontal menu.
Just one question. Are you familar with making mambo templates? (sorry for confusion, directed towards orginal poster)
Have you tried the jasc.com site for tutorials, they have some really good ones. They are pretty basic to some advanced workings however, it does show you the basics and editing and creating. Flash takes some time to learn if you have the time and you still need to know how to create graphics.
I know of a few quickie sites for banners and logos that are online.
www.cooltext.com and www.flamingtext.com
http://www.1netcentral.com/graphics-tools.html just to name a few that I know of.
PSP 8 will be just fine for what you are doing. It is almost as powerful as Photoshop minus a few things. What chance means by club members is have a different area for each team or level. You can also have a photo gallery showing pictures from each team or level.
I think i know it.
on the first one the logo and login stays.
Where is the introduction message. I think there must be room for latest news/celebration-calender.
For menu i think of a horizontal menu with sub-choices.
The only thing i don't know if the user menu can be in the menu above and if that menu can only be shown if someone logs in.
Roelof
Why did you delete your post Charlie ? As Tarmithius stated, he has experience, as do others, and the Template you chose would be doable. We're all here to help and to learn. :hellother
hoi,
I know a little about mambo.
I know that there are modules and components and how to install them.
I use now akobook, akocomment and a few others. but the thing aout the menu, therefore i know not enough. I know that there are horizontal menu's for mambo, but i never used them.
Roelof
When you make a theme or template for mambo you need certain key elements for coding it. Your best bet for info on how to do that would be mambers.com and mamboportal.com
You are using mambo. You can do a search for different themes that are available.
Charlie, what kind of software do you have or own? That way I might be able to point to some good tutorials. I will say this, plan on paper what you might want your logo or banner to look like, think of colors or photos you might want to add.
Thank you Terminator for letting me know. When I first started learning about Web Design, I would down load a Template that caught my eye and disassemble it to see how it worked. This gave me ideas and also taught me why things had to be a certain way. I still do it today. I'm still learning something new everyday. Then I discovered Forums and learn from them also. Although I'm not the most experienced in giving advice, I will share what has worked for me. As for Charlie, he will have to manipulate any Template he has found to work for his situation. ( Mambo ) It can be done if he has the experience. I'm asuming he has at least some experience. If not, this is a good time and place to start. The link I suggested has lots of FREE Templates. help wanted - ASP Free:: 1 post - Last post: Dec 10, 2003help wanted- Windows OS. Visit ASP Free to discuss help wanted. Just wondering how you're doing. Also, I would like to give you some advice. Don't take this personally as I for one like to help anyone when I can. Although, members are here for guidence and help, we can't actually do your work for you. How would that benefit you in learning if we could anyway ? As far as your graphics software, you need to experiment and become familiar with it before it is of any benefit or use to you. Most software has a Help or Read Me feature. These help one to accomplish what one wants to do with the software. Like I stated, don't take this personally, and let us know if we / I can help with any issues. How is the Logo / Banner coming ?
Bumber about the Logo. I'm with you about the Flash. I like it but get lost trying to create with it. I think Tarmithius or Tmmoose are very familiar with it. If you don't get the Logo figured out, I have a link that can help. It automates the creation of Logo's but you don't learn much that way. Handy for time limits though. Let me know :smack:
Way to go Charlie. The banner looks good from what I can see. I can under stand what you're working with now. Did the link help any ?
Oke,
I know that,
But first you have to know how things look like and that's the problem.
I can't think for a suitable design for the site.
And im looking for people who has ideas of want to think with me for idea's
My first statement was to make sure that you understand that making a template for mambo is slightly different than just html coding. I wanted to point out that you need to use PHP in the template and also you need an XML file that tells mambo how to install it.
In my opinion, I would go with what you feel you can acomplish Keep in mind you could always make some of the photo's Thumbnail size to preserve space and click on them to make them larger. Just a thought. :smack:
of course thats possible.
But i think more of the text i now use at the site.
I don't think that the names of players on a team etc. can be on one place. To much text.
Thats the problem with the area idea.
And then there is the navigation problem.
So lot to think about
Roelof
Absolutely what I meant Tarmithius. It isn't hard to do the graphics. Just figure out where and how to incorporate them into the thick of things.... :smack:
oke,
Then my idea could work.
Now the graphics and i could make a example how my site would like.
and then up to step 2.
Could you learn me how to make such a logo/banner ?
Roelof
I have done that, but for so far i know are no basketball themes.
So i tried tot make a theme for myself.
Roelof Wobben
Oke,
Thank you.
Im working on my banner and till now i looks like the attachement.
Im still searching for a good image to put on the left site.
roelof
To convert a template is not that hard, it just has to be done right. I do not have the time at the moment but will be online in a few hours and can help you then.
You can open up an existing template and see what you would need to do.
hello,
I don't take it personal. But im not so familair with flash.
But i don't want anybody to do work for me. I want to learn how to do it.
So i ask this forum for a sort of tutorial and to see what's possible.
The logo didn't go well.
i think i have to make it all again.
Roelof
Oke,
I know that,
But first you have to know how things look like and that's the problem.
I can't think for a suitable design for the site.
And im looking for people who has ideas of want to think with me for idea's
i have 1st Page for webcreation and Paint Shop pro for the graphics.
And i just downloaded a trail version of Macromedia Flash MX 2004.
And Chance , gan you give me that link ??
Roelof
Flash tutorials are a bit harder to find. I googled and found these
http://www.macromedia.com/software/flash/productinfo/tutorials/
http://www.flashkit.com/tutorials/

When you decide which way you would like to go, we'll be here to help out.
Hello,
I deleted the post because on the second hand i didn't like the layout.
But i choose two layouts which i like :
The first is :
http://www.webdesignhelper.co.uk/page_templates/page_templates/page_template6/page_template6.shtml
and the second is :
http://www.4layouts.com/download.php?id=1775&t=t
I hope that you will learn me how to change it to a basketball theme and also how tot make all the pictures so i can do it myself the next time.
I use Paint Shop pro 8 on this moment.
Roelof
Thank you,
In your opion are the letters readable or can i better use another type.
Im still trying to find the right choice for flas banners.
Roelof
Sorry Charlie, I was off line for a bit. Here's that Link. This Web Site links to all sorts of Flash and related on line tools. Just check the links and you will probably find what you need. This is a pretty big site also. Here's the link. On Line Tools (http://www.guistuff.com/)
I designed my own mambo template, as terminator can attest to. It is not all that hard but careful attention to the sideblocks and php code has to be made. That template that charlie linked to before he delted it could have been done, not an exact replica but very close.
Charlie, if you find a non-mambo template that you like I can probably work with you on getting it converted over.
Just a quick question for you charlie, do you know anything about how mambo works? There are certain things you can do do get certain features. There are modules and components that plugin mambo to give these.
Any questions about mambo can be asked here.
I can read them fine, although when you design a Web Site, it is wise to see how your creations look in different Browser's and Screen Resolutions. What looks good for one viewer may not foot the bill for other viewers. It may be distorted or blurred, depending on what Browser they use and Screen Resolution Setting. User friendly, ya know ? It looks fine to me Charlie.
Am I just losing it or did you delete a reply that was here Charlie?
Here is a link to some pretty nice Templates that are Free. Maybe they would work out for you. Free Web Templates (http://www.webdesignhelper.co.uk) :weee:
The pictures won't be too hard. You need to decide what type. Personal or Comercial. Since it is a Club Web Site, I would try to use Club Members Photos. ( Events, Members, Awards, or the like ) Photo Shop is a good software to use once you decide. It has a lot of features.
Banner is ready. Now change one or two pictures and the site-layout is ready.
As i follow the tutorial on the mambo-pages is it then difficult to convert the html into a mambo template ??
Roelof
oke,
If i looked at the first one I think its difficult to make special area's for each team or subject.
Then i think i must work with a head-menu and different submenu's. Otherwise i get the total text area to big or the text is to small to read. O
Or do yoiu think otherwise ??
Roelof
You can either install different browsers, which is what most of us do, or you can visit anybrowser.com (http://www.anybrowser.com/siteviewer.html).
Oke,
That can work to make several area's for the sub-menu choices which i now have.
That could solve the problem what i have with the navigation.
Then i would need a page for general info as the board. for the amount of money paid to be a member of the club etc.
Roelof
oke,
Im learning paint shop trough a paint shop group on the internet so thats not the problem.
Do you know anyFlash tutorials ??
Roelof
is there a way to control this or do ik have tot install all sort of browsers ???
Terminator, if your post is directed toward me, the answer is somewhat. I was trying to help as for a theme for the lay out idea, and edit a template to suit the needs. Just trying to help. :eyebrow:
Sorry, did not direct it to you chance57, to original poster. I should have used the quote tag. my bad!, anyway, you are right change57, you can use a simple layout from another site for ideas and then start from there. The site you listed is very good starting point. I like drawing and sketching out my ideas first and layout.
