I'm arriving in BOS in a few days, and I've decided to rent a car from Thrifty using the 6com code. My plane will land at around 2 PM, but the thing is that I might get bumped (the flight looks heavily oversold) and arrive 6 hours later. I thought that in that scenario I would just call Thrifty and tell them I'm arriving later than planned, but now I noticed that according to "Terms and Conditions", "any Adjustments or Changes to the reservation may result in a change of rate". The 6com offer requires 24-hour advance reservation. So now I'm wondering what to do in the case of overbooking: should I just call them when I am bumped (and risk losing the 6com bonus), or should I book another car now for a later pick-up, and then cancel the reservation if I don't need it? Will they find out that I have two bookings at two different times on the same day -- is it against their rules? They didn't ask me for a credit card number, so they won't charge me.

I've been delayed, etc. several times, and Thrifty always has my car (or upgrade). They also haven't charged me for being late. As a matter of fact, a couple of times, I got in late enough that my return no longer made it to another day, so my rental cost was lower than expected. This may be due to blue chip, but I doubt it.
most locations in US are very forgiving about the time. You may get the rate, but they may not be able to get your booked car class if they run out. WorldMark by Wyndham::
