after my inspiron 8200 has been on for about 5 minutes it starts to
sound like a jet engine and then it takes like 2 minutes to respond to
each click. does anyone have any idea what is causing it and how to
fix it? kim
If you download SpeedswitchXP (freeware), you can set your "on A/C"
CPU speed to "battery optimized". This will force your cpu to run
slower, but should also slow down your fan. Most likely you just need
a new cpu fan (or fan/heatsink if they're a single unit), but this
should solve the noise problem until you get one. jwz - sad mac::
That caused my laptop to be unhappy for a bit right after I restored it last week. My G5 continued to sound like a jet engine, past the warranty date.

Almost without a doubt, kimiekimbow-ga, it is the well known overheating
problem of the Inspiron 8200 that is causing your problem. The fan is
"racing" to correct the problem, leading to the "jet engine" sound, but
the overheating still then leads to your "delayed reaction" symptoms.
It might take contacting Dell to correct the problem.
