Not trying to be rude, but that is 17 cents per mile! That is FAR from a MR. Divide that by four and it would still not be a good MR.
Before everyone jumps all over danielonn even more, we all have to remmeber back when we started doing MRs. I have only been doing it for about 8 months now, but those first couple of runs, I made mistakes, big mistakes....
I think all of us did this when we first started this crazy business. Maybe instead of laughing at him, we can point him towards helpful info on how to become better at MRs.
When I first stared I didnt realize finding a MR that was .04 or .02 and lower was a good run. I remember paying .09/mile the first time. Ouch. but hey, we all have to learn.

If I understand the concept of a Mileage Run as it is used here: Such a trip is done for other purposes than flying from origin to destination ("unnecessary trip"). It looks like that your journey does not qualify as a MR.
That's what I was thinking. It seems Daniel is just making a couple of extra connections on an already necessary trip and thereby gaining the mileage.
Just a tip: If you want to maximize your mileage value, it's probably best to earn mileage and do runs with a legacy. Ergo, one that has varying levels of service and/or international service. Then when redemption time comes, you're not stuck flying the same ole' single class service to Seattle or Detroit. Seeing that you booked on Frontier you don't have a choice but go through Denver. On Frontier all of their flights go through Denver, so its not like you are going unintentionally out of your way.
Have fun though. :)

HP (via PHX) should offer competitive fares from SJC to ABQ

The OPs purported MR does not even qualify as a big mistake, it's something beyond that.
The trip is to see her/his family and that's a beautiful thing, but to post this as somewhat of a succesful MR? I don't think so.......IMHO :)
1.cost per mile
2.the airline
3.one connection does not make a MR unless one flies to far Asia or something similar.....The OP is really not adding anything to the itn, as Frontier (as far as I know) does not have non-stop, direct service between SJC-ABQ
muwahahaha.
I'm afraid that's the best way to describe this.
Two questions: Why Frontier? Where will these miles get you?
$440 for a domestic mileage run? I've done transcons for $170 that beat that easily. Was that the best fare you could find on that route? It's not a bargain by any stretch.
I think I'd call this a mileage "hobble". ^ :D
This was the best fare since United wanted $550,Southwest wanted $550. I looked all over and you see Priceline and Hotwire would not book multi trips.
Did you look at alternate airports (I haven't flown out of SJC at all this year, making most of my runs from SFO for cheaper fares)?
Would I be able to at least get seats in the first 7 rows even if I'm not an Assent or Summit member and Free Direct TV? If I showed the flight attendants how much I paid for my milage run 15 dollars worth of tv free to me would not be that bad for the airline since I'm giving them business?
Come on I think there should be a free TV offer for those who spend at least $250+ !!!

I was debating taking the train and a ticket for this trip would run $270+$150 for meals and the possibility of being delayed. And the bus from NM to Denver arrives at 10:30 PM.
OUCH! :)
If that is the cost for a mileage run on Frontier, you may want to rethink if the cost is worth it.

That's the only routing possible between those two cities using Frontier.

I'm thinking the airlines' threshold for "special treatment" might be different than you think it is:

At over 15 cents per Q-mile, I don't know if I'd call it a mileage run. (An expensive summer vacation ticket, maybe.)
Enjoy the trip, though.
