| | NO!
hes a good bass player
but not that good.
and his haircut in the nineties was a shocker!!!!
he always look like he had a deficit disorder too.
i believe so
Nope. He is ok and only ok for a metal player. There are a lot of technically better players as well as better 'ensemble' players. He was pretty good in Metallica. \M/ The Hard Rock Topic \M/ [Archive] - NFSCars Forums:: Mudvayne with great drumlines and crazy bass work, System Of A Down is another Yeah, Aaron does boast one of the most amazing voices in music industry. http://www.nfscars.net/forum/archive/index.php?t-14010.htmlHOME | YuppiePunk 2006:: former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted did his best Tammy Faye impression and flattered when the bands singer, songwriter, bass player and political http://www.yuppiepunk.org/2006HOME |
I always felt that he was a bit overrated, but then again, he lived in cliff burton's shadow
im not pretty sure if he is underrated or not but i kinda like the way metallica was with burton and then with newsted he has a different approach but then if u are filling one of the most bad *** bassist, it sure gonna be hard.
No, he is a good enough player, but it is not like James or Lars ever let him cut loose. Even the playing of Robert Trujillo is buried in the mix on the new Death Magnetic CD. The most unique thing about Newsted is that he made a lot of Money during his stint in Metallica and decided that he was tired of putting up with the crap... he walked knowing that if he was a good little soldier that he would continue to have made millions... As a bass player it is not like he is going to front another band as big as Metallica... most people don't have the stones to walk away from the gravy. He's not...because he NEVER was that good to be highly rated...and to consider that there are tons of GREAT bassists who never did get the spotlight like he did...he's just a good old dedicated metal bassist who got famous and made lots of money because he was in a band who got lucky and became perhaps the most successful metal band ever...
Not really.
He was pretty good with Flotsam and Jetsam, and decent with Metallica.
But..if he was REALLY good, (like Rob Trujillo) he would have been able to learn to play all of Cliff's old stuff, insttead of using alternate pickings.
The Justice for All album, the rttest of the band admit that during editing, they turned down the volume on Jasons stuff...but if you listen to the Bass Line... he was just mimicking James Rhythm line instead of supporting the Drums..and so for the most part all you heard from him was distortion. I do not know if they "officially" rewrote the Justice Bass lines with Rob..but they are markedly more pronounced and sounded way differetn to me, live. Even Jason admits he didn't really know how to play a proper Bass line til the Black album. He was about as dedicated to the band as anyone coulda asked for though, and I was sad he left. But I got to admit, Rob fits the band way better. There is a reason that Metallica never played Orion in it's entirity while Jason was with them. Because, he quite simply could not play it right. (it is a damndably hard piece)
Still..he is good, but in no way will he ever be one of the top tier of Bassists, like Justin Chancellor, Rob Trujillo, Les Claypool, Geddy Lee, Cliff Burton or John Entwistle.
No, he's the ugliest bassist ever.
Hes pretty good, but not underrated. Ever listen to And Justice for All? Did you hear Newsted on that? because i didn't, and nobody else. did.
Of course thats just 1 album, but his playing doesnt appear to be much signifigant in any later albums. Hes just a really good live performer. Thats about it.
I've always liked Jason. He was probally is a little underrated. The thing when he was with Metallica is that he was a pick bassist. Cliff used his fingers and myself i like a bassist who uses his fingers intead of a pick.
No.....John Deacon from Queen was an underrated bass player.
Is it ok to bath after doing push ups?
What is/are your favorite power metal album/s?
