This is not true.
I know for a fact that John McCain's paternal grandfather was named McMuffin. The family changed their name in the 1970s soon after their legal efforts to prevent McDonalds using the name failed.
However, "McCain's" younger brother - a man known in the family for his piquant sense of humour - named his first son "Egg McCain" in reference to this obscure piece of family history.
