If you're referring to food poisoning i think it's just the yellow bit that can carry salmonella which can make you ill.
Since our bodies were mainly equipped to digest plants, most people would get sick, some manage to eat it without getting sick though.
Eggs are horrible for your health. A single egg has as much cholesterol as three servings of beef tenderloin. (All vegan foods are cholesterol-free.) Many grocery-store eggs are infected with salmonella, a dangerous type of bacteria that causes diarrhea and fever in humans.
well... if its unboiled, but fried, scrambled, or poached its fairly safe.
oh, and since this is in the Vegetarian & Vegan section... Vegans wouldn't, ovo-vegitarians could.
People have been eating and cooking with raw egg for a long, long time. It's fine as long as your immune system isn't compromised. Be aware that there is a higher chance of salmonella infection, but the risk for a healthy person isn't very high. If you are worried about illness and it suits your purposes you can try to coddle the egg first.

Commercial eggs have a good chance of having Salmonella (sp?). This is because the chickens are stacked and jam-packed tightly in small wired cages, crapping on the chickens underneath and dead ones aren't removed. Makes for a very nasty environment!
When the carton says, "free roam" that means the chickens can spread their wings... "cage-free" means no cage, Vegetarian-fed means they didn't feed dead chickens (maybe w/diseases) to the alive ones. (...Remember mad cow disease?) But there is absolutely no group in charge of checking the validity of these titles the companies claim.
