My answer is you have to install one alarm kit, because you are moving around with the car, right? so it is not that where you live. you can find the system which is cheaper than 200.

If car theft is big where you live you might want to do something.
but personally I live out in the sticks and I don't even lock my truck.

Yes, it depends on where you live. also it depends on your car. if your car has an immobilizer system(that prevents starting the car without its original key), its not needed to install an alarm to prevent it from theft. also its not a bad idea to have it to prevent theft of goods inside the cars(or something like spare tire, audio system,...)
