Just received invite to receive instant Hilton Gold VIP from Aeroplan in mail this morning. Signed up immediately as I used to be Gold in the '90's and it was a great program. I believe it has been somewhat diluted since then but still a great offer from Aeroplan. I presume this is targetted at Elites.
Any way to get this to work if you are an existing HH member? Tried using the link above, but did not work. Thanks
I have Gold till 04/2005 so this promo is not for me to try to get GOLD. But can I get 50,000 points by somehow just getting the code ACAQ added to my existing account without going through the circutious route of opening a new account and then merging, etc. And it is risky too!!

As Crampedin13A pointed out above, the page does say that existing members have to call in to Customer Service to take advantage of the offer.

I did not receive this promotion, as an Elite member - probably because I am already Hilton Gold, through to spring 2005.
However, my wife, and my daughter, also both Elites, did not receive this promotion - neither has any status with the Hilton Honors program.

I think not.
They (Hilton) are at fault. They should have taken the extra time and effort to have unique one time use codes for their targeted offers...or made use of the Aeroplan database to check status first.
It isn't like Hilton is not wise to Al Gore's invention.

Although I am AC*E, it worked fine for me without providing any FF account number, just needed the ACAT-Code.
Quick ? - I signed up w/ ACAT so I could get the Instant Gold. I don't really care 'bout the AC miles (I know; blasphamy) since I'm a UA gal. Previously, Hilton had an offer to get 50% bonus on base points or reg miles (think it was through end of year) & I went for bonus. Will signing up for this screw that up?

wow! if hilton keeps giving away status like this, HH gold will become about as useful as MR silver.
That would be fraud because technically you're supposed to get only ONE of those offers and if you start opening multiple accounts to get bonuses after bonuses and then you combine the accounts, you would be in deep trouble.
I believe you, but how is that different from opening _one_ new account using ACAT then merging?
Now I'm confused, can people who didn't get the mailing use the code?

I was targeted for the fast track to Gold and was going to do a couple of no-shows to retain status. However, this promo worked!
For those of you that are currently HH members the directions are misleading. You have to go ahead and register to create a new HH account. At the end you will be provided a new HH number. Select to log into your new account and you will see the Gold status by your name. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/cool.gif

But now, after some thought. I don't want to take the risk of loosing points or worse, cancellation of my HH account. It's fraud any way you look at it. Even HH CS wants a copy of the letter to make sure you were the target of this promotion.

Thanks. I just got my Gold extended. The dude actually made me fill out the online form, then he merged the new bogus account into my old one. Net net is the same. Gold thru 4/2005.
I signed up with ACAT, the new account showed Gold immediately. Then I merged the new account with my old (blue) account, keeping the old number. My old account showed Gold status after two days.
tried it today via the phone. they said ACAQ ended on jan 31st. pity, i just dropped to hh blue at the end of march... :(
I seem to have got what I wanted (Gold Status) the hard way. Not an Aeroplan Elite, but had selected Aeroplan for Hilton Honors (and was a silver). After seeing this thread, I called Hilton to ask whether they'd exercise their discretion to offer me Gold Status, on the basis that I'm BA Gold and select Hilton frequently. 1st time was told no. Then I called BA to ask about the similar promotion targeted at BA Golds. They went away and did some research, came back and said they were contacting Hilton to find out more about it, but weren't sure what could be done. Called Hilton again and asked to speak to a manager. Was told the promo was only targeted to airline elites who weren't already Honors members. Explained that this wasn't very appealing for people like me who had sent a fair bit of business Hilton's way in the last year, stayed in hotels about 40 nights a year and had various options regarding hotel choices going forward. Today, I logged into Hilton Honors to try the technique mentioned in this thread, and low and behold, I'm now a Gold! Not sure how this happened, but I'm not complaining.
I am already Gold - earned the hard way. I was just offered Diamond on a fast track. 10 additional stays between 15 Oct-15 Jan. The offer did mention that it was targeted to my HH account.

Has anyone who didn't get the offer directly, and was already an HHonors member, been successful in getting registered for the promotion? (On the link provided it advises to call if you're already a member.)
ACAQ also provided instant Gold with my USA address.
Can't wait to use my existing Gold account at the 2 Hiltons in Canada when 300,000 Prestige Members are there to check-in!! I know there are more than 2 Hiltons and perhaps somewhat fewer than 300,000 AC*P but I received the letter as a current Prestige so it is fairly widely distributed!
I think some people got the offer despite being an existing member and the merging solution was what Hilton came up with.
Check under "all activity" in hhonors. If the bonuses are not there now then I highly doubt that they will autopost. My bonuses posted at the same time as they stay credits and always within 2 days of the stay. Very efficient!
If the bonuses are not there I would call Hilton.

Sometimes the bonus appears under the stay details, otherwise it'll show up under the "All Activity" section.
Under the description it will say either:

The bonus usually posts at the same time as the stay.
My 5,000 1st stay bonus posted today!! yeah! The 50,000 pts should get me 2 or 3 nights in London, worth - oh lets say $300-450! Nice and thank-you Hilton. I did actually receive a letter for the promo.

Sounds good. 25000 points is nice and I already have four stays within this period. How long would the gold card be valid? I am currently Hilton Gold with 11 nights and I will probably have another five before the year is over.

Here's a step by step guide how to get gold without making any calls.
1) Login to your existing HH account and remove Aeroplan as a partner.
2) Login and enroll for this offer https://www.hiltonhhonors.com/aeroplan/index.aspx
make sure you type ACAT by hand as the offer code.
3) Go through the steps to create a new account. Use the name/address as on your existing account.
4) When you are finished, login to ensure you have gold status with your new account.
5) Go to "member services" page and choose "Combine Multiple Accounts" from the drop-down list.
6) Enter details of accounts to combine.
WARNING: After combining the accounts, it says it takes 3 to 4 days for the result. I did not wait 3 to 4 days yet, so I cannot say for sure that there will be no problems with this. But I dont expect any http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

It looks like there are a few different flavours of hotel offers in the works. I didn't get the Hilton offer (which I would have preferred) but instead got a Marriott offer.
If I make one stay between now and some future date, they'll give me 100 Marriott Bucks to spend on my next 2-night stay. Haven't yet looked closely at the fine print.

But I'll disagree in this case, which was I read in the context of, "do you really think HH will yank my status and points once they see I'm a real customer?" (as opposed to someone who signs up for the promo, stays four times, claims the free nights, and never stays again).

I stayed a couple nights at the YYZ Airport Hilton. Was immediately upgraded to a suite despite paying a very cheap rate. Received a call from the manager inviting me to enjoy breakfast and evening cocktails in the executive lounge.
Thanks Crampedin13A - I missed the previous Instant Gold promos this year due to inattentiveness, guess I picked the right day to wander over to the AC forum.
I signed up back in Oct (after the SIN Do w/ ACers), got an AC account (to be somewhat legit about it), and got Gold (I didn't track stays last year so had dropped down to silver). This also got Hilton some revenue they wouldn't have gotten since I had some stays coming up & had to choose btwn Marriott & Hilton (I was leaning toward Marriott prior to the promo) & went w/ Hilton because of the promo for 25K.
So - here's the question - supposedly points are supposed to post after 1st, 2nd etc stays. I've had some stays but haven't seen bonus points - do they show up as sep line items/should I call? Since this is an AC/Hilton promo, thought I'd post here rather than in Hilton forum.
BTW - the main benefit to me was getting Gold status, but I'm not going to turn down 25K since I'd like to take my sister on an overseas trip & the more points the better for that. Having said that, I'm not trying for the 50K promo after signing up for 25K because that's a tad too greedy, IMHO.
And re: the question of whether non-targeted folk should be able to sign up. It's the responsibility of the hotel or airline to block that if they so choose. It's not hard to do, and if they don't, they shouldn't complain.

Well, it all seems to work. I signed up last week for this promotion. On Saturday I arrived in New Orleans to discover that my original (non-Hilton) hotel reservation had been lost. They called around and found a Hampton Inn. I mentioned that I was HH Gold but didn't have my card. When I got to the hotel they had a suite room with the little gift card and goodies from the manager.

I called HHonors to try this one out. The rep told me that in order to get the promotion, I'd need to fax him a copy of the letter from Aeroplan. So much for that. Maybe the online enrollment/merge thing will work...
If merging the two accounts, can you merge the new account into the old one and still get the 25,000 bonus points? I've got my HHonors Amex tied to my old account, so I'm worried that it will get messed up if I merge it in the other order.

It would appear to be targetted at all Elites because at the bottom it says if you are already a HHonors member to contact the Customer Service Center to adjust your account. For stays between Oct.15 and Feb.15 you get 2500 bonus points for your 1st stay,5000 for the 2nd,7500 for the 3rd and 10,000 for the 4th. So thats 25000 bonus points which is a pretty good deal.

That would be fraud because technically you're supposed to get only ONE of those offers and if you start opening multiple accounts to get bonuses after bonuses and then you combine the accounts, you would be in deep trouble.

I just created the account using ACAT and called to merge right away, not a problem- the CRS told me I now had GOLD up to Sept. 2004.
Yes - I tried it last weekend and the link is dead. If anyone can still get it to work, please let me know. I still had a copy of the letter with the offer and there was no date limit specified. Of course, I could have tried calling Hilton, but didn't get around to it.
Combined HH accounts online as per instructions in prior post. Checked my balance the next morning and the two accounts were merged that quickly! Worked great.
I have been focused on Marriott all year and not paid much attention to Hilton.
Is this for Elite members who are not Gold now?
A serious dilusion of Gold ,as I earned it last year with 16 individual stays.(my reason for focusing on Marriott is because of dilusion of program in my view)

I can confirm from first hand experience:
- You will get the bonus points even when you merge the accounts directly after signing up with ACAT
- HHonors will add the bonus points to stays you did on or after Oct. 15, even when the stay already appeared in your account before signing up with ACAT

That just means you can't link the same frequent flyer number to both HHonors accounts. Remove the Aeroplan number from the old account's profile and then you can sign up for the new account using your Aeroplan number.

This appears to be another promo not valid for UK addresses.
I tried to sign up online, all seemed OK, no errors or warnings, but account shows Blue online. Signed up online using my US address, new account shows Gold.

My first stay in early December posted four days later, and bonus 5,000 showed up on same posting, for ACAQ.
Check other tabs on your profile under "other points" to see if the bonus is there, if not check to see that your registration got input correctly. It should (at least the first one) post the bonus immediately.

Yes. Just got the Gold card in the mail.
Followed the procedure documented by Lewinr, used code ACAT and merged accounts. Chose to use the new account number as the account to keep. Received the card in just a bit less than 4 weeks.

A friend just got a Aeroplan letter with the following code: ACAQ to be gold for an additional year, if you are already gold. It also offers 5000 for 2st stay, 10K for 2nd, 15K for 3rd, & 20K for 4th.
So I phoned CSR at HH to change ACAT to ACAQ which she did.
What I do not understand is do you ahve to stay 4 times by 2.15.04 to be gold or are you automatically & just forgo the rewards.

I was targeted for the fast track to Gold and was going to do a couple of no-shows to retain status. However, this promo worked!
For those of you that are currently HH members the directions are misleading. You have to go ahead and register to create a new HH account. At the end you will be provided a new HH number. Select to log into your new account and you will see the Gold status by your name. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/cool.gif

I got the letter about it today. It says "Hilton HHonors has waived their normal 16-stay or 36-night per year requirement, and invite you to experience HHonors Gold VIP status for an entire year." Has anyone figured out who received ACAT and who received ACAQ? Could someone please post the ACAQ letter received?
I used LEWINR's easy steps and I was given GOld immediately on my new account. However, when I merged the new account with the old one, keeping the number from my old account, I then checked my merged account status and it still had me as a Silver, which is what I was on my old account. (Are you thoroughly confused yet?) Others have said their new merged account was Gold immediately even though when you merge it states it will take 3-4 business days to update the status on the merged account. Perhaps on some accounts it will take 3-4 days. Or perhaps there's a difference if you keep the new account's number vs. keeping the old account's number when you merge? Did those of you who got Gold immediately on the newly merged account (and weren't Gold already)keep the number from the new account or from your old one? My two cents here.
Pick one or the other. To use the Hilton term here "Double Dipping" could very well lead to much smaller incentives in the future if they find out. I think either of these are pretty generous prom's and trying to get both of them and combining them could hurt everyone in the long run.

I then found out when I got home that my letter was actually for the 50k promo. I have also signed up for this one and plan on only using the 50k account and not merging the two together (my new 25k account has no points in it).

Yes you can. I am a Hilton Silver, Aeroplan Basic. I followed the instructions listed above in 'lewinr' post, and it worked fine. Created the new account and the next day my accounts showed as merged, and I was Gold. Although he says it takes 3 or 4 days to merge it only took 1 day for mine.
I cr5eated a new account but it showed up as blue and not gold. What did I do wrong???
Called HHonors... got a great fellow on the phone... He merged it all for me... and yes if you already have the aeroplan as your partner with your original HHonors Gold, that is why it wouldn't except the same number for the new acct...
So if anybody else has this trouble call HHonors and they will do it manually for you and were very nice about it...

First try - nothing but error messages.
Called HH and they said I would have to fax them the letter as I was already automatically registered for another promo - stay twice get silver, stay 4X get gold.
Then went to Hilton forum and learned that you must type in ACAT, not cut and paste it.
Tried it and bingo worked fine until I submitted and it came back with my AP number already in use. Did others have this problem?
Anyway, I typed in my Frequence Plus number and it went through - so thanks to Aeroplan I'll get Air France miles with every Hilton stay.
Tomorrow I'll call to merge the accounts.

Regarding the ACAQ promo. I signed up for it and got my instant gold status. It doesn't say anywhere when it will expire. My current gold card runs through April of 2004 so I assume this new one will run through April of 2005? Am I correct?
I did sign up for ACAT today via mail. Hhonors said that my GOLD status would not be extended and I am gold until April 2004 unless I get those 16 stays before 31/12.
Was the Hhonors person wrong with the expire date of my gold card now?
