ok so in my brothers 5th grade class he has to make these numbers equal 24 but nobody in my family can do it you cant use absolute value bars or anything and you can only use each number once here they are

These are tricky!
1)
9 - 1 = -8
-8 - (-4) = -8 + 4 = -4
-4 X -6 = 24
2)
7 + (-3) = 4
1 - (-5) = 1 + 5 = 6
4 X 6 = 24
Oops, forgot the third one!
3)
7 + 7 = 14
14 - (-7) = 14 + 7 = 21
21 + 3 = 24
Someone already answered for three but I wanted to go through the steps for you. =)
Erm... Just so you know, the dude above me's answer for number two is wrong... o_O

2) -5 - 7 x (-3 -1) = 24
3) 7 + 7 - -7 + 3 = 24
