Go to your local Dept of Motor vehicles and file a title search by the VIN number. Hopefully you have something in writing stating you purchased the vehicle, and have the title transferred over. you may need to file an abandoned vehicle claim to get the title transferred to your name.

1 check too see if it is stolen/If not file for a title with BMV
first off I would check to see if the car is stolen.. if it is I wouldnt worry about it as long as your a good driver and can get yourself out of some sticky situations..
You should not have handed over any money until you saw the title.
At this point, you'll need to contact the police. The car you may have purchased might be stolen. While you risk losing your money and the car, better than getting stopped one day in a stolen car.
Go on your states dmv page and find the lost title form ,,print it and bring required info to the registry,,(in mass cost 25$)
