Every place is different my tattoo artist charges 150 an hour. I don't know where all these people live and where they are only paying $10-$100 but i would not even walk into a shop that wanted to give me a tattoo for under a 100...people will do anything for money and all those cheap people above will let them!
it varies by your state and the shop, ive found that different shops in my area have different minimums and different artists work for more/less than others.

the cheapest ive gotten a tattoo for was 50.00, the most expensive was 250.00.
the only thing you can really do is take the picture to a shop, and have them quote it for you.

Don't look for the guy who's gonna be the cheapest. The best you can hope for is a lousy tatoo, the worst is disease and scar tissue. It depends on the color, size, detail, and who you go to. I think it also depends on where on your body it is.
Make sure it means something to you- you don't want to have a saggy tribal tattoo when you're 80. There's nothing more unattractive. :)
I have NEVER heard of a tattoo costing 10 dollars!! The cheapest I've ever heard of is 50 dollars. You can go to the shop where you want to get tattooed at and ask them and they will give you the price and you don't have to make any commitments right away. SSAI and Sword Swallowing News::

Another thing to do is talk to other people who have tats and ask who did it if you like the style. Every tat artist has a different style and specialty area. Mine does fine needle work like a master! And his partner does awesome tribal so I get them to consult with each other when I design a new one!

Prices vary from State, to city, to shops, to artist within those shops. You are looking for a lower back tattoo, They are NOT cheep. Some places will charge you 130.00 or more for lower back tattoos. I'm not sure where you live but lettering usually runs about 5.00-7.00 dollars per letter, depending on the location and the font style.
No shop will copy another artist work. However you can print off the tattoo you are interested in, take it to your local shop and tell them what you want. Please note they will make changes to the design so it's not copied exactly. Ask them for a price check. Remember just cause one artist in the shop gives you one price, that don't mean the other artist in the shop will have the same price. Most artist set their own prices. If you are not happy with their price they give you try another shop. Just keep in mind they are not cheep!
Location and detail and size are the three most important factors when deciding a price for a tattoo.
