I will hold a 4 foot tank(121.9cm), 2 foot 3in high (68.6cm) and 2 foot wide (61cm) of many horror stories of people building cabinets under fish tanks

which is about a foot deep....but....because it was just given to me by a friend (it wasn't shop bought!!) i have no idea how much water it will hold in litres.
It already came with the water and everything I need to get started (I've had to do a water treatment and everything so there are no fish in)
It IS ready for the fish to go in though as it's been settling for the past 2 weeks as advised.

Problem is, the fish I'm looking at all say they need to be in a tank of a certain size and there aren't any measurements in feet or anything to go by, only how many litres of water needed for them to live comfortably!
Does anybody have the same sort of size tank and know the amount of water it will hold please?

A four foot fish tank is big enough for most fish.
Stick to the smaller species and they will have more "room" to swim.
Measure it. One litre of water will fill a 10x10x10 cube. So if your tank is 4ftx1ftx1ft then it will hold 120*30*30= 108000 cubic centimetres of water or 108 litres.

i have marine in a 4 foot tank. the tank i have i just fill it till its full : and my fish are okey
i would say that size tank would be about 450-500 liters or about a 120us gallon 99 uk gallon
used clean out pop bottle may take sum time though :-(
I have a tank that is 48in x 12in x 22in and it is a 55g or about 207liters
A 48x15x12 tank holds exactly 134.69 litres or 29.63 gallons.It all depends on if your setting up marine or not as to how many fish you can keep.Ask at your local retailer but also read as much as you can on the type of tank you plan to stock.Good luck
