My grandmother always bought us books or puzzles - she introduced me to some excellent books and instilled a love of reading. She wrote a message in all of the books and I still have them. She also bought beautiful puzzles which the whole family would set up and work on together for days, they were so big.

When I turned 7, someone got me "Seventeen" magazine and they said they had heard I was turning 17... of course, they were just joking but having that magazine that was for older girls was really special to me at the time and I always remembered it.
