tattoo artists are like regualar artists, they all have different techniques so do what I'm doing, I am an apprentice, which means I get to learn about the business side and health and safety etc but tattooists are cagey about their skills so I suggest at the same time, you get yourself a kit and busy yourself on grapefruits and pigskin. Take photos and show them around, get people interested and when you are confident and your mates show some in you, get going on them! A lot of my friends have let me colour their outlined tatts in and when you want to do your first from scratch, get omeone who wants tribal, it's easy to do and easy to correct. On no account pay for an apprenticeship
My best advice is probably something you really don't want to hear: wait until you get an apprenticeship. A lot of times, self taught artists are hard to retrain to do things the "proper" way because they're already so set in their ways - watching the other person tattoo is really an important part of an apprenticeship before you actually get started tattooing. Not to mention that I doubt you have the tools in you possession to give really hygienic tattoos.
Do something else to try to hone your artistic skills/tattooing style - like practice drawing some flash of your own.
Do what Grace says.
there are so many so just go to a tattoo shop and ask a tattoo artist witch one would be best.....
What tipped you from just "allways wanting a tattoo" to actually going and getting one, and what did you get?
