How our planet earth's sky is blue colored ?
It has to do with the light coming from the sun.
When the light hits our atmosphere, it is scattered because of diffraction.
Different wavelengths of light are diffracted more than others (ie, some colours are diffracted more). It just so happens that the blue light is diffracted the correct amount for it to seem to us that the sky is blue.
It has nothing to do with pollution, or the sea reflecting the blue colour. The sea is blue because of this same reason. Hence why sea water is clear, not blue, but looks blue when you look at it from further away. Just the suns light being diffracted.
Edit: added a source
because of all the pollution in the sky and the o-zone layer i think
adam's right = it's sun light being diffracted by tiny particles in the atmosphere .. The effect is known as Rayleigh scattering .. look it up .. explaining why the sky is blue led to all sorts of advances in the theory of light ..
PS It's so sad to see 'environmental' concerns leading to so much 'pseudo science' being taught at school that kids now think EVERYTHING is caused by pollution or global warming ("yes, children, Global Warming is what wiped out the Dinosaurs")
Not true. A planet's sky is a reflection of the more abundant color on that planet. On Earth its blue because the majority of the planet is covered with water. The reflection of light against the atmosphere makes the sky blue. Mars has a red sky because its covered with red soil and rocks. etc etc
Help! Where can I find sky blue ribbed knit fabric?
Does the sky become a darker shade of blue as you get further from the equator?
