A bought a kitten on Sunday and she is 8 weeks old however Im not sure if it'll be okay to bath her with flea shampoo or is there a Special kitten shampoo i need???
never ever bath cats you could strip them of their natural fur and oils they wash them selves very thoroughly
Dont u flee shampoo ust yet, she's still young. You can start giving her baths now, but don't use any strong products just yet :)
Don't bath her at all, she will wash herself. Ask your vet about safe flea repellents for kittens (I use Frontline on my adult cats but yours may be too young). Cats are frightened of water, it's not necessary to bath them normally.
Has she actually got fleas?
If not, then leave her alone.
If she has, then you need to either consult your vet about a flea treatment suitable for a kitten this young, they may suggest Frontline spray. Or find yourself a shampoo that will kill the fleas, but is still mild enough to be used on the kitten. Remember to be very careful and thoroughly rinse all traces of shampoo out of the coat; and don't get any shampoo in its eyes or ears.
My advice is don't even try to bath a cat. Several years ago I tried to wash out some flea treatment because she licked herself and started foaming at the mouth. I ended up covered in scratches and wetter than the cat. The easiest flea treatment is Frontline but make sure you get the correct ones for the size/weight of your kitten. cats dnt normally like baths but if u start them young i suppose they learn 2 get used 2 them the kitten should b fine 2 bath now but i wouldnt recommend usein flea shampoo just yet but if u go 2 ur locall pet shop they should have some kitten shampoo
You don't need to bath cats unless they are really infested with fleas. They clean themselves. If you are bathing because of fleas, 8 weeks is a little young. But do not bath a cat unless absolutely necessary!!
This is a cat your talking about. NOT A BABY.!!!!! cats groom themselves.they don't need regular baths, Cats are not great water lovers,so your not doing your Bonding much good, the cat will not thank you for it,
If at 8WKS your kit has fleas Comb it, or better still flea treat with a powder till you can use drops.
Would you not of been better knowing more about cats before you decided to BUY one,?????Ignorance is the biggest killer
I think a new cat being brought into the home should be bathed. After that I wouldnt do it again just let it clean itself. Do not use any special flea shampoos, they have harsh chemicals that some kittens do not respond well to. I used johnson & johnson on mine and it was very mild. I would get ready and have a few towels and lots of warm blankets to put the kitten in afterward.
You don't bath cats.
umm sry about it but kittens and cats lick themselfs to clean them.they don't need baths.
Kittens/cats should not be bathed, you can get flea treatment from your vet if she has fleas, but please don't bath her, they dont need it or like it and you will remove the furs oils as well as frighten her.
Go to your nearest vet and ask them for frontline. Cats are not meant to be bathed under any circumstances. Their skin is not made for the types of baths we give them with water.
If you insist on doing something go and get the wipes at the pets at home place and use them,
Cats are not like dogs who can take being bathed regularly and from the smell of some on them around here I would say they are long past due for one!
don't bath your kitten you will probably make the wee thing terrified as she will have been used to her mum cleaning her the natural way for cats by licking the dust and dirt from her fur,if you think she has fleas get a flea comb from your local pet shop and comb her gently with it this will also show you if she has fleas or not, but please don't bath her
as a rule you dont have to bathe cats. that is why they lick themselves. they dont need help in keeping clean. now if your kitten gets really muddy or infected with fleas or something like that, then fair enough, other than that let her do the cleaning!
There are some dissenting views on this issue but in general there is usually no reason to bathe your cat especially a short haired indoor cat. Cats spend a large percentage of their days grooming themselves and they are experts at it. Using their barbed tongues they lick dirt and debris off their fur in order to keep it clean and odour free. Cats with long hair may require the occasional bath if their fur gets too oily. Their fur can get too oily based on climate conditions and the individual skin of the cat. There are also occasional times when your cat's fur may get excessively dirty due to some mishap that the cat has gotten itself into. In some of these cases it may be necessary to give your cat a bath. She is too young to have Flee treatment yet, check with your local vet about Flee treatment..
You never bath cats. You will damage their fur. If she needs treating for fleas get her some tablets or that stuff you put on their necks. I guarantee if you put her in the bath all that will happen is that she will scratch you to pieces. Cats HATE baths!!
What kind of table scraps are ok for Kitty?
Any tips on how to care for a kitten? Hes 9 weeks old?
