I contracted HSV-1 genital from getting oral sex from my boyfriend who has HSV-1 coldsores (although) he didnt have a cold sore at the time. I never had any type of herpes prior to being with my boyfriend. My first outbreak was severe and I had shaved prior to receiving oral sex from him so at first I thought it was just shaving irritation. 2 months later, I shaved down there and then he gave me oral sex and then a few days later I had what seemed to be another outbreak and so I called my doctor for some Valtrex and I took that for a week and it's been 5 days since I finished the Valtrex and my outbreak is still down there. He gives me oral sex a lot and we only do it when he doesn't have a cold sore, but I only seem to have the outbreaks when I SHAVE prior to the oral sex. I have never had a cold sore even though I have HSV-1. Is it normal to have that many outbreaks that are kind of severe so close together with HSV-1 genital herpes? My experience is very similar to yours. I was diagnosed with HSV-1 Genital herpes as well. My boyfriend performed oral on me for like 2 mins., he didnt have a cold sore present at the time and i still contracted the virus. I think the reason why is because i shaved prior to him giving me oral. I woke up the next morning with about 5 sores and by the peak of my outbreak i counted over 50!. I do believe that if i did not shave before receiving oral i would have never contracted the virus. Think about it. When you shave there are little tiny cuts and opened pores. Then when your boyfriend performs oral the virus is just seeping into those opened pores causing all of your constant outbreaks.
People with HSV-1 Genital herpes tend to have fewer outbreaks. I have had it for a year and have not had one since my first inital outbreak. I was taking valtrex one daily though. After using it for 4 months i wasent getting any outbreaks soo i stoped taking the medication. A few weeks after that the herpes virus spread to my cornea and i now have ocualar herpes.
I do recommend taking the medication as a daily supressive therapy. It will cause fewer outbreaks and will lower the risk of you spreading the virus to your partner. My grandmother has been taking it for 10+ years and has been outbreak free. She considers herself cured because she has yet to spread the virus to any of her sexual partners and being that she has not had an oubreak in 10 years!! but as well all know genital herpes is a virus and is with us for the rest of our lives. But there are ways to treat the outbreaks.
You can use home remedies as well to help speed up the process of your outbreaks. Google them. Also if you take valtrex or acyclovir (generic form of valtrex) i promise you, your outbreaks will become less frequent. Also the longer you have the virus the fewer outbreaks you will have in the future (just something to look forward to). But yea you shouldent be having this many outbreaks especially if you only have HSV-1 genital herpes. Maybe you shouldent shave anymore (you may think its gross though) soo just try shaving less frequently. Or shave 2 days prior to your boyfriend performing oral sex that way if you do have any little cuts they could be scabed over by that time.

First of all u should not let him be doing that is he has herpes. U don't need to have a cold sore to pass it threw u can contract it threw saliva and secretions in ur mouth and then those oral secretions get into ur vaginal secretions.
U could be getting razor burn on top of the herpes u already contracted.

I thought I was having an allergic reaction to the sanitary pads I was using but it turned out to be herpes. It's also HSV1 genitally I also have HSV2 down there.
Every one with herpes is different and there is really nothing to say how often they will occur for you. Some people get out breaks around the time they ovulate or, like me some times I will get an out break 3 days before my period. Now I get an out break about 2-4 times a year but they have gotten much milder since the first two out breaks.
There are things that can trigger out beaks. You may want to see if they are related to your diet or even having sex can trigger them. It's hard to say what is normal with herpes since every one who has them is different, so what triggers and how many out breaks the will have could be totally different from you.
Bit you shaved prior to oral sex...it could be the razor or the shaving cream triggering the out breaks, or if you use lube during sex it could be that.
You may want to go back to your doctor and tell him that you don't think that your medication is working or that you may need some thing stronger since you are still having out breaks. Also try not to have sex when you have an out break.
