To Vote or Not to Vote? That is the question | Fallible Blogma - A :: If they aren't swayed by us actually giving our vote to the . But we have to keep things in perspective. . Do you really think that's going to fix it? No, we just need more You also say it's wrong but we have to keep it legal, . because it does not make any logical or moral sense to me. http://www.fallibleblogma.com/index.php/2009/05/11/to-vote-or-not-to-vote-that-is-the-question/HOME | i have never voted & this year i don't want to make a mistake, i don't like McCain or obama, & i don't want my 1 vot eto count, i kinda was for hilary & am shocked she backed out
Voting is a right that we have in this country and every vote counts in some way but even more than that it is a duty for every citizen that is eligible to vote there are people that have suffered and died to protect that right among other rights afforded us in our Constitutingn and the Bill Of Rights you dishonor those if you do not exercise that right
In the elections of 1876, 1888, and 2000, the candidate receiving the plurality of the nationwide popular vote did not become President.
Yet, the way the laws are written, the electoral "winner" became president. Penn Jillette, Libertarian Nut - Glenn Beck - FOXNews.com:: May 20, 2009 I think you make any contract you want, you know, if you want to JILLETTE: You don't really think that Iraq would be just groovy of those things are true, is the way to do that government power? BECK: What else does anyone need to say? BECK: How much time do we have? Thirty seconds. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,520858,00.htmlHOME |
So does our vote "really" matter?
Only if your are a billionaire or can afford lobbyists.
i strongly agree with Yahooligan i am from Utah but Never Vote Since i dont care about who the presidents but i was sure to voted for Hilary if she Kept Running but now Not Gonna Vote but were not gonna give Our Vote From Hilary to Obama since Dont like Obama Or McCain its same Reason on yahooligan
Yes - it makes me feel good to vote for someone like McCain/Palin because I'm saving babies' lives and helping people keep more of their own hard-earned money through lower taxes.
well, to answer your question quickly... no. America relies on the electoral college system to determine the president. A quick summary of this is basically a group of selected representatives(picked by the government) from each state who cast their vote for the president. In CA the representatives vote in unison and all cast their votes typically for the democratic candidate, but in other states the electoral college votes are split. Al Gore in 2000 won the popular vote by the people, but lost in electoral college votes, therefore lost the election The GOP needs libertarians more than libertarians need the GOP :: Despite having bad things to say about him, I agree with the Huckster . Not that I think we should have a law against you increasing the probability of death on the road. There is no way more than a few of us give our vote to McCain. .. argument that the gay vote is really much larger than anyone knows. http://www.thenextright.com/stephen-gordon/the-gop-needs-libertarians-more-than-libertarians-need-the-gop-right-nowHOME |
Of course it does. You should spend some time in a country such as China and North Korea and see how good you really have it brother. The Weekly Standard:: May 19, 2009 Saudi Arabia, the supposedly next best option, does not really want the Yemenis and "I think it's an incorrect statement to say I was, in any way, . send us money and weapons and we'll do whatever we want to do with them. .. We should have a fairly good sense by the end of the year as to http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/HOME |
You're getting close.
not really, it's all the electoral college, and they actually make the decision, which is supposed to be based on what the voters put on the ballots, but historically hasn't always been. i suggeste you take a look at america the book, steven colbert breaks it down pretty well... if your vote does count it counts for like .000000007% if you want it to really count vote for american idol.
--- edit ---
jesse, i'd rather go to either of those countries... i just need the funds... which isn't going to happen if mccain gets elected. of course if obama gets elected i'd rather stick around, he's going to clean up the politics if his policies pass.
interesting...
I think we have no say, They just put Obama and McCain's name on a piecee of paper, put it in a hat, and pick one person from the U.S senate to draw a name...and voila..there's Americas Leader..
Geniusus isn't it?
yes it does good, but it isnt used properly in my opinion. take the bail out bill that passed, most people called their senators and congressmen and asked them to not pass the bill, it past any ways. and these same senators and congressman will still probably be re elected, even tho they disregarded the pleas of their constituency, democracy only works if the elected officials represent those who elect them.. every one should vote for non encumbants, be brave, cross party lines.
Did you know that Obama Paid ACORN $800K; GO ACORN GO!!!?
Would you vote in a muslim president?
