How can I limit store.exe memory usage::
I have been just restarting the server when memory usage gets out of control, I read the various posts here and elsewhere and then called Microsoft.

Hi All,
I've been using Ext for a few months for a project but I find that the memory usage is pretty high. Internet explorer takes ~ 25MB with a blank page but when I load Ext tabs with some AJAX content, the usage doubles. Even when I navigate away, it stays at ~ 36MB.
The initial load time is also high, about 2-3 seconds.
I'm sorry but I won't be allowed to post the application however I could create a mock up if someone can help me out here.
If these numbers seem normal to Ext users/developers then I'll consider other options like using a stripped down version or trying out mootools/jQuery but if you guys think that my usage is incorrect then please educate me.

I tried today's post about Ext + AIR application (Simple tasks) and I see the stand alone usage to be about 51MB (http://extjs.com/blog/2008/02/24/tasks2/)
Please don't get me wrong. Its an awesome library but I come from an embedded world. (My current project if for desktop, but still...)
You think IE is bad you should try FF2 ... (currently using 180MB with 1 ext app open) ...
So yes this is normal, and the usage goes up over time (memory leaks etc.) So every few hours restart the browser and its speedy again. There are work arounds being developed for things that can be controlled, in the end usually its the browser to blame. I doubt its going to matter much which library you use, but Ext is a little top-heavy, considering the features you have to take the good with the bad. I have a request for an official word from the core team. Is memory usage something that you are concerned about ?
Features are awesome but a thin/slick interface is killer :)
That is disheartening and its strange that I don't see lots of posts about memory usage. I'm sure people care about restarting the browser every 1/2 hour if you are surfining with multiple tabs.
There have been posts and its a concern, but when there's not a whole lot of control over the situation as a developer you're pretty much stuck. As workarounds are conceived they are usually implemented.
As hardware increases in capabilities, less and less attention is given to optimization. Look at Vista, runs like a dog on hardware only a few years old, but that's "progress" in the desktop world. :)
