I am working on a file that pulls data from an external XML file and displays it inside dynamic text fields (which I learned from a fantastic tutorial right here on kirupa.com) The problem is that when I put those text fields inside a symbol so that they can all be animated at once the text ceases to display. I know that all my action script is working because when they are in the main stage they work fine.
I have already searched the forums for this and found this post (http://www.kirupa.com/forum/showthread.php?t=206252) which, regrettably, did not work for me. I am working in Flash 8 but would like to export this to work with the Flash 6 player. Can anyone help me?

4. Select the text and make it into a movieclip ->Insert ->Convert to Symbol. flash.display.MovieClip; import flash.events.MouseEvent; import flash.text.
